However there is a silver lining ,and I am pleased to inform all, that in offices where lapsing has been introduced and "our people work all the hours they are paid for" our simple minded car users with money to burn end up doing all the lapsing ,and often finish later :chuckle Short sighted I know ,but hey if they want to spend their own money doing extra work for nothing then they probably don't have the level of intelligence required to understand a fairly simple rational argument .
No no no no no.
OnaFlyer wrote:Just to clarify something here regarding car use: I DO NOT use my car in order to get finished on my time, and hence make a walker on the delivery struggle. I get finished well within my time using the car and the duty is not too long to be done by a walker.

Anyone that uses their own car in order to not go over their time (when they otherwise would have done) is silly.
Extra work because I use a car.....I don't think so :chuckle :chuckle

There are two reasons why I won't use my car:

1. I'm not paying to do my job, and to make that job appear shorter than it is. I'm fed up with seeing people scoot home hours early because they're loading up their motor.

2. I don't want the scallies I deliver to associating my car with potentially thousands of pounds worth of mail and personal documents. I've been shocked by the number of cars I've walked past whilst on delivery that have bags, bundles of mail etc, clearly on display.

My walk is on my way home from the office, and petrol is cheaper than a bus pass :Very Happy
The cost to your workmates=
Trouble is your rounds getting heavier eg more pkts etc with pegasus revisions and its going unnoticed! because your cars taking the extra weight and your just driving a little bit faster everyday and still clearing.
when your on holiday next week and the floater rolls up hes given a bike!
as officially its still a bike job and hes been well and truly stuffed.
Thanks for undermining the sustainability of your job because with your help RM are pushing through changes that will eventually
close around you.
What difference would driving faster make? You don't literally drive around the delivery :chuckle Driving faster to the 1st delivery point would save about 20 seconds.

No floaters aren't given a bike, there are no bikes in my office and never have been. They get the bus, and the delivery can be done comfortably within time.

I don't take extra packets because I have a car, everything oversized is signed out. I do absolutely NOTHING extra because I use a car - I use it for my benefit not RM's.

Most staff in my office use a car, so how come Pegasus took 0 hours out? I thought using cars made all the deliveries longer?

Same old rubbish with absolutely no proof or evidence to back it up.

:chuckle finished well within your time :hmmmm "all we are asking is for our people to work all the hours they are paid for" Maybe they'll just leave your office alone, it's probably really nice and full of nice people and they just won't want to mess up your little Shangri La . Meantime back in big old lapsing land the petrol prats pick up the unpaid work :chuckle

Lapsing - is that the thing we've been doing all year? Easy. Pegasus? No problem. Tabletop Revision? Had that. Banking of hours? Done it.

I wonder what horrible scheme they come up with next to stop me finishing early? Clocking in/out would do it - who thinks RM will go for that? :hmmmm :chuckle

I can't be bothered arguing anymore - so what i'll do, is let you know when I have to work until my time. Don't hold your breath though, i've heard it all before and finish earlier now than I did 10 years ago.

I've said it before, you carry on thinking you're the clever ones, and whilst you're still walking around at 2pm i'll be at home spending time with my family. :wave

Ok,in my office, the non car users have been cutting off,the car users have not.
In fact the car users are having extra pouches dropped off because it all can't fit in their car.

There's a moral here somewhere.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

In my office the car users picked up the bulk of the lapsing and still made time,so management doubled the number of lapsed walks :chuckle No prizes for guessing who got the extra"but you were finished at 12 last week ,what's your problem now" :d'oh!
