Yep i know all the above and do you know what it dont matter one bit when you return to your car and find some B**tard has smashed the hell out of it to rob the mail. Oh then you have to attend a disipline hearing whereupon you will be expected to beg for your jobOnAFlyer wrote:Never had bikes or trolleys in our office. Pouch drop point is a shop right in the middle of the walk, which is where I take my bags and also leave the car. I split my walk down into light bags because I have a knee condition (not caused by being a Postie!) and I can't be bothered waiting around for drivers forever, I had enough of that.bedfordrl wrote:Good GriefOnAFlyer wrote:russell1973 wrote:simple...dont use your own car then it will cost u £0.
On a serious note though, how many foot delivery staff on here have a car but DONT use it? In my office the number is zero, everyone with a car uses it.![]()
No,no no no no no no, do not use your car ,what if your float is a non driver or better still not a mug eh? ,there will probably be no provision of a bike or trolley because they would have been withdrawn because of the shear volume of numpties in your office.
Er, no it isn't. Have a look around the forum -the bulk of the problems we are now facing are caused by a computer program (pegasus/Georoute) which has nothing whatsoever to do with using cars.axeman wrote:They never broke me i'd wait forever come rain or shine not my problem ! i do not intend now or ever to use any of my cars for the purposes of conveying mail. it's people like you whov'e caused the bulk of the problems we are now facing. o.k if it was ''your'' business then you'd have a shout but for an uncaring dictatorship led by greed from the top no,no i'll not cave in far to resiliant

JOB DONEA few quid a year extra insurance (which we need anyway for my girlfriend as she needs to drive to courses) and less petrol than a bus pass costs me. That's not really paying to do the job is it? On top of which I make plenty of time, and until either clocking/in out or back to the office and work until your time is introduced I always will make time because I get on with the job. If either of those are introduced i'll stop using the car, no problem.
It's not my fault I work in a good office and Pegasus, Collapsing, Banking of hours and a table top revision have all been fine.
The people that are actually the worst at the moment are the idiots that are working over their time every day, completing 5 and 6 hour walks when the agreement is 3.5hrs.

I find it quite amusing that certain people think they possess superior intelligence because they don't use cars, yet they walk around until god knows what time in the afternoon because they 'do the job properly'bella wrote:nobody will be using cars when they bring in the vans and trolleys, so whats the point in arguing and name calling!
Time is the only thing you cannot buy, if you want to waste your life walking around until 3pm doing a job that makes you miserable then do it, but don't expect other people to do it as well. There are staff in my office walking around until late afternon doing walks that take me 2hrs 30, those are the mugs not me.
I love my job most of the time regardless of all the changes that have taken place, I get on with it instead of moaning and don't finish much later now than I did when it was 2 deliveries, in fact some days it's earlier. (11.10am this morning including collapsing).
If something happens to change that then so what, i'll work until my time. I've heard and seen it all many times before.
Nobody is forcing anyone to work for Rm, if it's really that bad go find another job and see how crap it really can be.

So you and everyone else on here keeps banging on about how they hate B&H, yet you're all doing it yourselves to people who use cars (including the 'clever' muppet pictures). Just because it's online doesn't mean it doesn't count.linkinpark wrote:Because those sh*ts are costing my Sisters and Brothers their jobs and are stupid enough to try to excuse it! Hypocrites.
The stupid ones are the ones getting themselves into trouble by working at a far slower pace than they are capable of. It makes sod all difference if I use a car or not, I still get finished well within time because I get on with it instead of moaning about anything and everything.

Onaflyer your my hero
. If i couldnt use my own van for deliveries i think i would jack it in.
I go in prep my round, take it out, all at my own steady pace nobody hassling me , i see some of our posties wobbling along down the street with there 16+ kgs on there backs
not for me my van is my back. I never carry more than about 5kg( only more on really heavy days ) in the bag and often i just have a bundle wandering down the street. and somehow i cant see the point of having a vehicle and having it sat at home doing nothing day after day ????
the reason i have transport is to make my live easier, i dont care if im using it for work, shopping, takin the kid to school, going to the tip, whatever....i use it to make life EASIER..... period.............

Either there is some very stupid people on here all of a sudden or some management have found there are other sites than E-Bay.
I just cannot believe that an ordinary honest postie would type sh*t like that.
What the hell do you think we have postvans and bikes and trolleys with Royal Mail emblazoned on them for? huh?.
Before this job i was in farming and i think the missus would of took a dim view if whenever we went out she had to move cowshit out of the way!.
To make your life easier .!! Hah

With respect to OnAFlyer and chumley.mouse below are four very good reasons why private vehicles should not be used for delivery purposes.
1997 - Ben Turk postman - fatal RTA (killed)
2001 - Robert Sharp postman - fatal RTA (sentenced to 7 years imprisonment)
2006 - Darren Cooper postman - RTA (disabled for life)
2008 - Keith Gunn postman - fatal RTA (Carole Paulson)
All of the above postmen where using private vehicles whilst on delivery.

MODERATORS POST
Ok this is a very emotive subject and it keeps popping up. Everyone knows which side of the fence I am on this but I am asking all members on both sides to stop making it personal and to stop the insults.
Some will never see the other side of the argument and if your are one of them then agree to disagree. If you can construct a good argument for your side of this then do so but allow people to disagree and as long as their post is relevant and polite reply to it in the same way. If it contains abuse then ignore it
From this point on I will Warn people and 5 warnings mean an automatic temporary ban. Any posts I think are abusive or contains any derogatory comments will be deleted after I have issued the warning.
Both sides of the divide take note. Keep it Polite, keep it on topic and keep it fair.

I'm not really sure where to start with this post....are you saying i'd be safer on a bike, in a van or walking than I am in my car?brothermagrew wrote:With respect to OnAFlyer and chumley.mouse below are four very good reasons why private vehicles should not be used for delivery purposes.

How many people are killed each year whilst commuting to work? Thousands, does that mean they should all stop working? Of course not. Driving to a delivery in your own car carries absolutely no more risk than it would in a van, and CONSIDERABLY less risk than a bike which are death traps waiting to happen.
And how many people were killed altogether on Britains roads during that time period? The risk is the same everytime you get in the car, whether it be work, shopping, day trip to the seaside etc.
I understand what you're getting at but it's a pointless post IMO.
