I am sorry if i sound a bit dim here,you dont have time for a break,i think you do,it's a requirment by law and as long as you go aound not taking your meal reliefs then the more your managers are going to take the rise out of you.
If you cant fit your deliverys in then make it the managers problem not yours,sometimes you have to put yourselves before anything and i am sure your customers will understand if you take the time to tell them.Make your managers manage that is what they are payed to do,if they cantt manage then let them be the suckers that get the bullet not you.

Yes i agree but with no union and a staff that just dont question management then i'm afraid this is what happens.
People are too scared to cut off in our office and the few that do get it in the neck.
I've cut off a few times,but as the RM have shown i'm sure that the threat of no pay will rear its ugly head in our office.
I'm sorry to say this office has rolled over,just make sure to get people in your office to vote yes.

answer we royal mail own 20% of cadbury rem
we are even subsidising our own investments
should we not be getting discounts on this
no royal mail make them some of the most expensive snack machines in britain

Ha we used to have a canteen then they took it away from us the same day they started making meal breaks compulsory. "Right you take your break at this time....but we are removing the canteen facilities..."
DOM tried to rectify things by getting a hot food van around to the office, shame he asked the guy to come about half an hour after our breaks. Needless to say the food guy went bloody mental and told our DOM to f*k off.
Now we dont have anything but a vending machine serving delights such as Choclate,crisps some crisps and oh more crisps. A fizzy drinks machine that ONLY EVER has coke in it despite the options of other drinks. Also the fairys keep turning up every month or so to up the price of everything to the point its fecking extortion. Office with 80+ people...no hot food. Good times.

I sympathise with you but you're not alone. Our office has:

No canteen
No vending machines
No microwave
No toaster
No comfy chairs
No rest area
No proper heating
No cleaner
No fridge (we do have one of those can cooler things though!)
No toilet seat on one of the toilets (for at least a year)
No hardstanding or cover for bikes
No room to work in

Apart from that we have everything they have at RM headquarters!

Does your Health and Safety(local or area)rep know about the above?
If yes what are they doing about it?
If no get them on to it now,there are some serious issues there

As far as im aware if you don't have a canteen then you should be given the extra time on top of your break to head out the office to find somewhere where you can get a proper meal, this is what happens at our office when the staff don't turn up at the canteen.

Likewise, and our outside s**t house has no hot water , often no soap , occasionally no paper , but always a hand towell that is washed every few months.

We had an old kitchen / canteen for years where we could make basic things like soup and toast. We all put in a quid a week and our old PHG used to do it whilst we prepped. Then we had a refit and they installed a massive kitchen knocking a wall down and taking out our pool table room. But we got a good cook and the food was brill, pasta, curry, jacket spuds, salads . However then came the wonderful WAY FORWARD agreement and they closed it

Now most people run around like numpties and make do with the crap from the machines and prob blow £10 a week with tea and coffee as well. I have a small cool bag with ice gel packs and normally have sandwiches, fruit, and cold pasta salad, plus a bottle of water and one of juice. I always stop for about 20 mins on the round (ok i do have a van) otherwise i am totally starving by the time i get home.

I am truley sorry that so many of you have little or no canteen in your offices and that your caring managers show so little respect for the staff that work so hard for Royal Fail i wish i could come to your offices and help with your plight,just a few things if you use health and safety then can i give a little advice some of the tatics we have used to get the sad management to do some thing,go to your local council and talk to health and safety get some advice they just love looking at royal fail offices,it works a treat with our lot they learnt the hard way,with us it's a DO,MC,Distribution that gets looked at.

Talk to your health and safety rep inform him/her in what you are doing and get them to join in you can have so much fun if your looking for advice you can e-mail so many people just to make Royal Fails managers life just that bit more uncomfortable we are now heading for our 3rd management team,i know it is not nice for us to make life abit ruff for the jolly old managers but it's not nice being yuk to staff and treating people with so little respect.

The other thing is club together and get a kettle,toaster,ASDA do student collections really reasonably priced,take milk in a flask from home someone bring water in so you can make yourselves a drink club together to get tea,coffee.take food from home so you dont cost yourselves your wages so you have some fuel on for the long day,turn boxes up to make seats use the sorting benches as tables so you can have a laugh toogether,we have found that when you do all this it unhinges the managers and they will get you an area so you can have your meal breaks so that you stop making the place look like a road transport cafe,have a try,dont give in because when staff members see others having a laugh they tend to want to join in,it wont happen over night but try it.Best of luck,keep us posted.

We used some of our first line fix cash to buy a water chiller.

I dont bother like but plenty do. I'm happy with a cup of that horrible gold blend at 5.30am.

But then we dont really need a canteen that serves bait as none of us go back and none of us take our break either.
