What happens to the work after a 'cut off'.

Ignoring the strikes for a min.

At my place there is no streaming,what comes in goes out,if we get a bulk posting we sometimes get 2 days for it.

When we cut off the work stays in our pouch box till the next morning when it is then collected and fed in to that days delivery.
No matter how bad it is and what time we go out it's the same,we tell the managers we aren't going to complete but we still have to take it all out so 'the boxes are ticked' that the office is clear.

And yes the boxes are not unticked so up the road know we have failed.

No streaming of mail just been instructed to take it all out if you cant do it you bring it back if its above 16kg you ring the office to let them know they supply the phone as we have refused to use our own then they retrieve the bag-s,they leave them until the next morning for you to add in on that days mail.The only thing that really gets me is they allow staff to go early around the office not take all thier breaks but then they beat the staff up if they do the job as it should be done,it's ok though there is a real hard core group of us who stick to the rules and see the old managers get really steamed about it.

This is unbelievable. You undo your bundles, prep them yet again, bundle them up again? In theory the same letters could be brought back every day! Also, just the first bag should be 16Kg.

indeed, and it'll also get heavier and heavier if the same homes arent being delivered to due to cut off's

When duties fail to get completed and the work kept in for the following day, the Manager should then have to report the failure on his daily report to the Regulator if he does not do this and says its cleared.....he's committing FRAUD.

In our office it's the same, we take it out and put it back in the frame the next day.
Also they took away one of are packet duties which does specials and bag drops.so now are specials miss the 1o'clock deadline
from Wednesday onwards, nearly every week.Also on Saturdays we have no-one to do parcels and packets as the person who's job it is
has to do the mail run, so if no one is spare they just sit there till Monday which again is most weeks.

it was the same in our office what came in went out. untill last week anyway at one point we had 12 yorks full of boxes now we're down to 4 plus 1 york full of mech bundles. one walk has now got 18 boxes of work next to it but the average is 6. about half of the walk's are cutting of every day. took me 4hrs 10mins to do my walk today. life here in south london is really easy.

It's extremely rare for anyone to cut off in my office, but when it happens the mail the postie thinks he can't deliver is taken by someone else on O/T.

just a little point the first bag weight can be UP to 16Kg. It does not have to weigh 16Kg.

Good point, but I was pointing out that the first bag should be (up to) 16, not the last.

The last, or even the last two or three, bags, should be nowhere near 16kg.

Cutt off's are quite rare but when it does happen the following happens.

1. Someone is offered docket to take it out same day
2. The odd manager will go out and do it (very rare)
3. You are realised from morning IPS and take out the mail first thing (1 day late of courrse)
4. You get realised from IPS and told to re -prepthe work and take it out with the normal load.

Normaly a grabber will go out before a collection SA and do the break off.

packets fail thursday onwards,dont leave office on saturday and normally clear by tuesday........on a weekly loop

I was always told that the 'cot off' from the previous day had to be delivered first the next day, if it hadn't been cleared on o/t. My rest day cover sometimes has to cut off on Thursday and Fridays and I have to re-jig my walk to accommodate this extra mail. I usually have someone help throw it all back in, but no extra on delivery.

We have done a check on the system to see what report has gone in down to failures,guess what none,which is rubbish we have regular walk failures every day of the week,what we did find out was that they have got caught out with the reporting of failures on SP-Delivery items,funny they had not even got the savy to realise that the PDA,s would catch them out,all i can tell you is that the walks that fail bits every day is that mail gets done first so you just fail another bit the next day,im sorry that its a crap attitude to have but they dont care so in the end why should the staff!
