slighty from the topic but talking about cars on delivery, I trained this new employee about 3 weeks ago probably only on 2 minute contract. Next thing you know he is on his own and using his car on delivery, i bet he isn't using the right insurance as well. In fact out of the recent 5 people who started 4 of them are using their cars.

Yes it is.

If your boss insists that it is not then the posties should time how long it takes to walk back to the office and then cut off accordingly so that you can finish on your time at the D.O.
to be honest i don't see the problem we drive to our walk's so what. ??

because you are not supposed to use cars on delivery end of.
it is RM`s responsibility to provide you with the tools of the job. people who use cars on delivery are saving RM thousands but they still say there isn`t any money for a rise.

that`s still using your car on delivery as travelling time is factored into your hours, besides why would you want to pay to work when RM should provide the means to do the job properly.

it's like being on a bloody roundabout. we finish on our walk. so we would have to go all the way back to the office to pick up our car'sin our own time. now please no more old bollock's about they have to take us back was told again today by the boss." you finish your duty on your walk". so we drive out in our car and wait for the work to turn up on the van. we are not using our car's on delivery.

we are constantly told we finish on the street no matter how far from office
every timing re walks based on us finishing on the street leaving recordeds pkts reg items in pouch boxes
where and when we finish then any confirmation
some of our lads can finish 10mls from del office and have to find their own way back either home or office
i think the union would sh'' a brick over finishing at office but i tell you they would save hundreds of jobs

Although your DOM is telling you that you finish on the round I am sure this is in fact wrong  Its always been that you finish your duty back in your office where you hand in cards docket left packets etc.... You should have your rep challange this :Very Happy

I dont go back to the office, and none of the offices around us go back either. We finish at our last call/post office and go home from there.

I actually asked the gaffer why this was not practiced everywhere and he said he didnt know why, in fact I think he was stunned that it happened elsewhere.

Try telling our DOM that, everything gets pouched off to the nearest Post Office, so no returning to the DO, no ifs no buts... It seems there's a lot of confusion and differences around the country regarding this issue - something else the CWU should address!?

Using Cars on delivery is a disgrace. It's because of these people that royal mail are giving us more and more work to do for nothing. If everyone stopped using cars on delivery royal mail would need more drivers and more duties to cope with postman acceleration demand. YOU'RE ALL FOOLS FOR USING YOUR CARS

Yes you are right.....But...... if everyone in your office is using their cars and it has become the norm, ie: all you ve every done then it will take a while for people to catch on that is in fact a fools game. I used to use my car years back to make loads of time and the older guys would wag their finger but i carried on. It took my car being broken into and smashed up before i learned the hard way. So we have to give people a chance to figure it out themselves and change :Very Happy
