Glasgow MC out this morning
Went into the DO this morning to see no mail. Apparently Ayr and Irvine were out last night, Glasgow MC tried to send down drivers to collect, but they wouldn't cross the picket. Drivers were then suspended. Glasgow MC then walked out. Not sure how many, or if it was drivers only.
I'm sure someone will update ths later, its only the rumours I heard...

Re: GMC OUT
Ever get the feeling that this is Royal Mail trying to force an UNoffical walkout to try and make the National ballot null and void due to the postal voting system?
I know you think you know what you think I meant!
But do you really know?
But do you really know?

Unofficial strike spreads across West of Scotland

Postal workers across much of the West of Scotland have walked out on unofficial strike after management punished drivers at Glasgow mail centre for refusing to cross their colleagues’ picket lines.
Management suspended the pay of six drivers at 10pm last night after they refused to sign a statement saying they were prepared to cross official picket lines in Ayr and Irvine.
In response, the entire night shift at the mail centre walked out in support. They were followed by the early shift today.
A senior rep from the Glasgow CWU union told Socialist Worker that the strike had “spread like wildfire” across delivery offices and that so far over 2,000 union members had joined the action.
“Every postal worker is experiencing the most extreme management provocation at the moment,” he said.
Workers at Glasgow mail centre plan to meet later this afternoon to discuss whether they continue their action.
The following should be read alongside this article:
» Mail piles up as post strikes bite
» Management think Royal Mail cuts are a ‘rollercoaster’
» Middlesbrough postal workers unofficial walkout
