I was on the picket line from 06.00 until 14.30 and I wouldn't have missed one minute of it. You just can't beat the solidarity. One acting 'manager' (he's thicker than a whale omlette) went scabbing in another office, and that was all. Five managers scabbed. The one who looks like a monkey, the one who looks like The Fat Controller, the ugly one whose kids have daft names, one from somewhere else who looks like Jeremy Speight and one driving a 600 who didn't like being filmed. Plenty of support from bus drivers, firemen and the general public. Thanks to Cheshire Probation Service who made us tea and gave us biscuits. Two new CWU members signed up and the local paper sent a photographer because our union supported the NUJ in the past.
Life must be lonely when you're a scab, but it's all they deserve.

Solidarity Forever!
The Industrial Workers of the World. The union whose members never scab!

37 out of about 130 went in about a dozen union members crossed the line. Most went out on delivery, no one would look us in the eye as they drove out. 1 case of harressement from someone who crossed the line, not a union member.

I really hope the union kick out all members who crossed the line, prehaps this will make others think what they can lose, if the union is there for you just once, then its worth it.

Forgot to mention the Crown office was out solid, apperently thay had people in doing the counters who had no idea what they were doing.

I spoke to our Counters Section Secretary this morning. His own office was shut completely and the others in our branch area were offering a reduced service. Our SPDO Rep reported good support in the CB1-5 area, with picket lines at three SPDOs; Great Shelford, Histon and Sawston. One of our reps at Ely visited the SPDO at Soham and reported that it was still locked up when he got there!

ALL OUT

Post by coppertop »

Just been reading through all the posts what a great day for postal workers all over the land. As I said in an earlier post we had a few strike breakers cross the line one being an acting manager whom I thought was a pretty decent chap but he can go fly with pigs now. Let's hope that we get just as good a result with the next one if it deems nececerary. If this was a test by the bigwigs to see how we really felt well I think that the message has been well and truly put accross.
SO IF THIER ARE ANY MANAGERS READING THIS GET BACK AND TALK AND SHOW US THE RESPECT THAT WE TRULY DESERVE
WELL DONE TO EVERYBODY AND A HUGE PAT ON THE BACK :nana :nana :nana :Very Happy :Applause :dance

Was there from 3.00am till 1.00pm at times had over twenty on the line and never less than ten up until I left. Plenty of support from passers by car horns etc, even had coffee, sweets etc given to us. Soaked thru at the start but soon dried out. Sadly 8 crossed but only 3% of workforce. We were as solid as a rock, never a cross word and that is what will have upset Royal Mail more than anything else, the solidarity and willingness of the majority to stand up for what even they know is right.
