Talk Sport this morning
Did any of you lucky guys who were able to listen via the radio in the van, catch the postal strike debate, & certain ex Posties stirring things up with comments like, "Its an easy life being a Postie, We start at 5am, we go out on our rounds & are back at 8.30 for breakfast. Then the second delivery is thrown up, & we go out at 10.30, but we don't take it out we put it in a Post Box and take it out with the next mornings delivery". God I was fuming in the van, talk about getting the public against us? 7 years ago 2nd delivery stopped?

Re: Talk Sport this morning
I heard this, Dave Ward was on and i reckon he put our current situation across very well, then we heard from a RM spindoctor who fed us all the pish we hear constantly, 10% drop in mail, not willing to co operate in modernisation blah...blah.... f***ing blah....
Then we heard from 2 ex posties, one who reckons we have it easy..especially on the 2nd delivery?????
One postie from London rang up to talk about the bullying they were suffering from, at the hands of local management and in particular spoke about being taken off pay if you are unable to complete your delivery on time, that cannot happen was the reply, surely that is illegal??.

Had my headphones on today one of those postman who rang up was obviously a manager, the other was bitter about something I have been in the post over 30 years and never heard of those practices, maybe he's been sacked in the past,he should have been. Could anyone with one of those letters regarding absorbtion e-mail it to talksport as they don't believe it. And it's a big YES from me.

Re: Talk Sport this morning
The guy at the end even though he was a Pratt, was right in saying he has lost faith in RM when he opens his front door, & there is a Postie getting his Mail out of the back of a private car.
By the way, if Talk sport do a podcast of the show, you all need to listen to it.

Re: Talk Sport this morning
what the general public will not like is the bullying story.
if amy company did that to them after doing a full days work they would be livid.
and yes its obviously against employment law but as the phone caller said going through the tribunal etc is a pain and royal mail know it.
the only way is to go through the press and shame the bastards.
who ever sanctions such acts should be sacked imediately.

If as you say it is obviously against employment law, and I am not doubting the veracity of your statement, then what the heck are the CWU Legal Team doing about such employer practices against their employees?flaminmoses wrote:what the general public will not like is the bullying story.

Really rubbing it in when the RM spokesman said "HEROIC managers are doing all they can to give the public a service" Soldiers on the front line may be described as heroic, out of their depth puppets shouldnt be.

Read HEROIC MANAGERS as spineless, bullying, intimidating twats and you'll be close.Edward Hunter wrote:Really rubbing it in when the RM spokesman said "HEROIC managers are doing all they can to give the public a service" Soldiers on the front line may be described as heroic, out of their depth puppets shouldnt be.
There are some good ones, but not many and the good ones are moved on.
Damn, think I forgot something then....
Ah YES!
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

must be because it will take time throught he courts and no doubt royal mail will back down as soon as a date is set.
imo all this should be brought up through grievances and push for disciplinary action.
if the manager did it to several people in the same office get him sacked.

Re: Talk Sport this morning
if the royal mail can send in hundreds of managers from all over the uk to cover walks, then you must question if they are really needed in their own patch. cos one presumes that the offices from where they have been drafted from are still working perfectly without them.so you can get rid of them and save millions
