Re: Never Known A job Like This
This is exactly what got us in this mess in the first place, when SDD was introduced practically everyone in my office got in early so they could get finished asap. Even before SDD it seemed to be the done thing, with people going out on delivery as early as 6:30am and finished by 9:30/10am with a few 2nd delivery items to do then home by 10:30am. Old habits die hard

greynut wrote:RM and the union are wrong here. Nobody should start work before their time. If he has an accident or falls ill RM will say his start time is 6.00am, its nothing to do with us. I got in early one day, simply because I can t park anywhere near the office, I slipped and sprained my ankle. I called the manager and asked for him to send a van the 1/2 mile to get me as I could not walk. he refused saying he could not ask anybody to start before their time. So I walked into work, making the injury worse. When I got in I asked the manager where one of the drivers was who I know gets in early, and he said he had sent him to the garage 10 miles away to pick up a van with someone else. Its called moving the goalposts.mailman71 wrote:the union should be on the backs of anybody starting 2 hours early because this is a health and safety issue, apart from that any body giving them 10 hours work for nothing is an absolute moron or at best an incompetent fool who cant do the job in his allocated time because he is useless.
thats trua and thats exactly what rm would do.
as far as im aware they are not insured for you to come in before your time.

I'm getting a different story, if you are on the premsises whatever time it is, early or late, you are covered, who is right ?
Could do with a definite version to view online.
some may come in say 10/15 minutes early and goes up to the canteen for a cup of coffee before starting at his frame on the correct time.

If the signing on sheet is there then you are covered apparently.NWpostie wrote:I'm getting a different story, if you are on the premsises whatever time it is, early or late, you are covered, who is right ?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

interesting, since we were doing the Job properly and causing general chaos, the Linos must have been that busy as a new signing on sheet has not been put up for 3 days now same for weighing bags and carry off sheet, none of them have been kept up to date.
