What,so one worker is on strike and another picks up the work on overtime, are you for real pal.
Baring in mind that those who are picking the docket up are probably union members as well.

Like I said before, there are far bigger fish to fry than the issue of members doing o/t whilst others are out on strike.

If the CWU had its finger out in the first place, we wouldnt be in this mess.

i think some people have the wrong idea about performing docket during strike action, if a mail center is on strike then no mail center should be putting on any extra staff or any extra shifts to profit from that buildings loss but if you happen to be on a delivery after the strike action and you book pro delivery than i see nothing wrong with that

From the LTB:

"Their sacrifice is benefiting you. Indeed, their sacrifice may mean that no national strike action has to be taken as national agreements will be reached and existing agreements honoured."

I don't like the sound of that little snippet, not least of all because the so called agreements have never been honoured and have never been true agreements in a national sense. If the leadership believe that we will blithely follow the 2007 mish mash of local bullying and harassment they'd better think again.

In sense i sort of agree with the principle, not touching scab mail. But if your office has a weak union, then you won't have much of choice(well maybe you do but not if your the only one),
But here's the thing if mail centres go out on strike, they are not effected (wage packet maybe) but the deliverer staff are because they get shafted beforehand and after.

The union have to take responsiblity for this happening. So, overtime will be needed.
The union are to blame for the divide and conquer attitude between mail centre workers and out in the street postman.
The union now has to find away to mend this broken marriage.

NO its NOT, If you sign up to being in a trade union or any other collective body you have to be prepaired to do what is nessasary for the collective group-NOT what will line your own pockets and the majority of the CWU voted for the current leadership situation, hence we should be prepaired to abide by their decissions / leadership direction.
we may not always agree with which way we are being pulled but by sticking together we are STRONGER

Its called DEMOCRACY !

If you don't agree with the leaderships wishes and decisions, then put yourself up for election

The staff that are out all over the country have to be saluted because the strike IS working and its down to the union members. Not them.[/quote]

So in your opinion, the strike is working because the backlog gets RM to the table because of publicity about it, but your warped brain thinks its a good idea to do OT to clear the backlog, that other union members have lost a weeks pay + to create.Your logic defies belief. :evil/mad

No, what I am saying is that if there is o/t available, I will take it while I have the chance being on a 25hr contract.

The union could have avoided all of this if they had backbone and fought for our rights in principle in the first instance (cars on deliver, coming in early etc) But they chose not to. Thats down to the clowns in charge, nothing more.

You my friend have a very clouded vision of what is actually happening in some offices, so maybe best if you dont comment without seeing the bigger picture.

Exactly. The backlog will be cleared one way or another.
I am not going to be a martyr and avoid getting extra income.

I have said several times now.

There is no direct comms from our union area rep (the one that CROSSED a picket line) so excuse me if I am a little dis-illusioned with the moral high ground.

The basic pricipal is still the same as it ever was - by joining a union ( or other organisation ) you agree to abide by its T&C / principals . You may not always agree with their decissions / direction but You have had the chance to vote for or stand against the current CWU leadership . I don't always like the way the current CWU leadership conducts itself but I reconise that they and not I have been elected to lead the way.
If anyone doesn't like or indeed want to abide by the unions conditions , then they are free to either CHALLANGE the current leadership through the appropiate ballot process or indeed SURRENDER THEIR MEMBERSHIP CARD and go it alone
