A WOMAN has removed her YouTube film of a postman pushing letters into a pillar box after being told it was common practice for letters marked “return to sender”.
Mila Tanya Griebel said: “It’s not general knowledge why postmen put mail in boxes. I never wanted to point the finger, it was just a general question: is this why we don’t get our post?”
She was contacted by postal staff after her footage was featured in last week’s New Journal.
Ms Griebel was told that the practice was known as “pouching off” and legitimate for letters and parcels that could not be delivered.
Comments were also left at http://www.thecnj.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; defending the postman, who has been cleared of any wrong-doing by a Royal Mail investigation.
Managers, however, did sound a word of caution that large piles should not be ending up back in the pillar box and some parcels should be brought back to the branch office.
Mark Holberry, the delivery office manager at the Kilburn sorting office, said: “It is not common practice that should be happening. Any other item should be brought back to the local delivery office, and then they should try and deliver it the following day.”
A spokeswoman for Royal Mail said: “The only mail it’s acceptable to put back in the postbox is return to sender.”

Well, it's good that she's admitted her mistake. But would it really have been too much to ask for her to say sorry?
We all make mistakes. But surely an apology is in order, isn't it?

She asked a question which was answered and then the video was removed, there's no need for an apology infact, she should get a virtual pat on the back for letting a greater number of people know why something happens which is not instantly obvious.
