was told by my line manager today that WTLL was to be cut from 30mins to 20mins this week,no doubt because of the backlog of mail caused by the strikes(shame that!).Just wondered if that was against national agreement,i thought WTLL was 30mins,no matter what??Anyone know the score on that?cheers

It most certainly is supposed to be 30mins.
A manager last week even let us take the last 15mins as a fag/coffee break as she knew nobody was going to listen to her just spout on and on about the perils of taking strike action

Reason i ask is that it was agreed between the local rep,and the shift manager today.When questioned on this,the rep said that mangement could change the length of it,when needed,be that making it shorter,or longer?!?
This wouldn't be the first questionable deal made with mangement by our rep,and i wanted to know the facts nationally before i question this further?

30 minutes? most we have had in the last 3 years or so is 10 minutes and more normally 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cfo

WTLL is about 3 mins every 2-3 weeks a quick huddle up next to our frames, and they tell us not to trip or deliver if we see a dog!
Lucky if we get time to go to the toilet, it is that busy in my DO..

Our WTLL has gone from being 30min every week to (for the past 2 weeks) being nothing at all*. Was wondering about this myself. Does anyone know what the agreements with the CWU say about WLL and what they can/can't do with it?

*this would of course be due to the effect of IA, there's approx 50,000 items in my personal backlog still.

When we have WTLL its about 20 minutes, but we haven't had one at all since the strikes started - about 12 weeks bow. Funny, when they hold them its so important you can be pulled up for not attending, but when they feel like it they don't do them. Waste of time anyway, of course.

In our mail centre we have a 30 mins WTLL if it finishes b4 the 30 mins we have a break until the 30mins is up but if they cancel a WTLL then we finish 30mins early or we take 3x10mins at the end of our shift over the course of the week
I believe you are entitled to the 30mins as its in your contract

wtl IS 30 minutes of your working week EVERY week, where you are paid NOT to work just listen and maybe ask questions.
It is up to you and the business to fill it with talking.
I have not been or been asked to attend a wtl session in years (seriously years ) and i make a point of sitting by the t machine doing nothing.
I have told my lino that it is not my fault they cannot fill it althouhg i will not be working.

We have a copy of managers information pack on WTLL and it states that all sessions will be 30 mins in length so tell the manager to check his own info pack as we have had some managers trying to give it pro rata to the part timers conditioned hours..although why anybody would want to sit and listen to their lies for 30 mins is a mystery to me.
