Has anyone else seen this, was put on Facebook today
Hi everyone,
I have received a message from Bob Gibson National Officer of the CWU informing me that a Postman in Woodford Green was using his car on delivery on Saturday morning. He was pulled up by the Police and they have impounded his car and he has been charged for not having the correct insurance. The Postman was informed by the Police that the Royal Mail bond was not worth the paper it was written on. Can you please forward this message to as many CWU members as possible.

As a rep i have to have business class on my insurance to claim any mileage back for attending meetings etc, happy to use the car for union work and have even used it to visit RM customers on Health and Safety matters where they have placed our members in danger but i draw the line there wouldn't dream of using it for anything that would benefit RM.

although the actual details of when this happened to the postman in Woodford Green are a bit sketchy. I have received the following update.
The postman was pulled over approximately a couple of weeks ago. He has subsequently been taken to court and fined £350 and made to pay £150 to get his car released after it was impounded. He also received 6 penalty points on his licence for not having the correct insurance. The courts and the Police said that the Royal Mail bond was not worth the paper it was written on because the postman had not informed his insurance company that he was using his car whilst at work.

Better still if Bob Gibson put out an LTB on the CWU website with regards to this matter.

hello every1 just let you know that we have a part timer who uses her car after being told numerous times by our union rep not too. also the same part timer who starts at 9.30 is able to finish her sorting and delivery well before some of the full time staff in our office although it cant be proved but apparently she gets help from a number of young youths who arent even royal mail staff but seeing as she is well in with the management this is not an issue?
Also there is a element of racism by our manager who as never said good morning to me or any other member of staff but he greets certain members of staff and casuals with a hello brother and hihg 5s and shoulder bounces i and members of our office find this tottally unacceptable by a manager what do other cwu members think?

The manager is what he is - I mean who cares if he high 5s some and generally makes a fuss of others - the further away from me the better is what I think. If a manager said "good morning" to me I would be looking outside to make sure it wasn't snowing.
