Bit of a dopey question - but dont branch managers see the daily work load and see cutbacks arent going to work? There must be some branch managers that get this and support you - cant they strike too? If many managers all got together and said RM what you are asking just isnt possible - wouldnt this have an impact and send a big message out?

They don't care, so long as the biggest Business Customers are happy. It's only the Posties that care. That's a major factor in most of the Industrial Relations problems, over the last few years.
RM say we're blocking progress (the chance of real progress would be a fine thing!). We know we're trying to protect the Universal Service Obligation (one price to anywhere). It's like talking to a brick wall, most of the time! They even admitted publically, a couple of years ago. That they don't consider the Public to be their Customers. And that Business Customers are their real Customers. I'm sure you can imagine the backlash that caused from us.

Backlog?
In our office there is loads of mail, flats and packets collecting dust. On my walk today i had to leave behind 14 boxes of letters and flats and 3 packet bags! I will think about monday on monday!
Atleast mail volumes are down!

Some RM frontline managers do recognise that these cutbacks are causing problems, butconcerned wrote:Bit of a dopey question - but dont branch managers see the daily work load and see cutbacks arent going to work? they won't put their heads above the parapet to say so, because they would be moved or
forced out. They are not going to strike. One of the top managers did think that the proposals
were unworkable, and he had to resign IIRC.
And managers' bonuses (10% of their pay) depend on achieving reduction of 10% in hourage.

Re: ANY OFFICES GOT A BACKLOG ??
We've been geo'd about 3 months ago, and still have 10-15% of duties miles to big, we need extra hours shoved back in, even managment agree that, but tell us that it won't happen and they have the cheek to do a brief telling us that RM only want us to work our hours, they won't ask us to do the impossible etc, etc - all a load of crap, of course our rigional manager is that Burgess bloke, who wrote that email teliing his underlings that they will do as they are told, and of course our DOM is trying to do that as well, we have members to scared to tell management that they can't complete lapsing, we have OT being done and not booked.concerned wrote:Bit of a dopey question - but dont branch managers see the daily work load and see cutbacks arent going to work? It's a mess and TBH I think it's only going to get worse, I just hope no-one does anything silly just to not have to work.
And after the mail we had today, I assume we had some of the backlog coming thru to us.
