Another heavy day for me too.
Walked to the top of a block of flats for one recorded, and yes, the barsteward wasn't in, but he had time to go home and complain to the office that I wasn't back within the time stated on the 739.

Not been in for the last few days, but heard from a couple of the lads that they are getting battered. They are on strike tomorrow in a local dispute.

Your problem would have been solved if you had put collect Saturday during callers office opening hours.Pegman wrote:Another heavy day for me too.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
A short but pleasant day today - went to the picket to pay my respects to my colleagues and have the chat that we never seem to have time for any more on a normal day - beautiful autumn morning with the prospect of a Saturday that doesn't leave me too knackered to enjoy Sunday for a change. Respect to the driver who had to cross the picket but came out to talk to us and the usual unspoken thoughts to the three guys who felt that the rest of us aren't worth supporting because we don't need the money as much as they do - we all have out bills to pay boys, but some of us will give up a few things for our principles.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

The last 3 days have been horrendously heavy, Tuesday and Wednesday were stupidly light!
I can't believe some offices leave Mailsort in on a Saturday as a matter of routine - we clear the office every single day and only on really bad Saturdays is any mailsort ever taken off.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
to be honest im really really pissed off with what is going off with our rounds
the van share is designed for 2 drivers as you no as the rounds leap frog etc etc ...
but they have took the regular lad off to cover other van duty's
leaving me with people who have never been in the area we do and with no van license.
were is the logic init
then were not aloud to cut off

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Another nightmare today, it's a good job mail is down otherwise we wouldn't be able to cope
oh wait, we can't cope
PS. I happened to be in the office when another guy said to the manager 'How much OT for today' and when he was told he complained that he'd come in 30 minutes early to which the manager said 'You did that yourself so I'm not paying you for it'
but I still bet that these people will still come in early everyday

Today was a total b@stard. So heavy doing yesterdays none deliveries + all of todays mail. 60% of the office cut off 30% worked passed their time only one person managed to do it on time. One came in on his day off (this is Saturday) to do cut offs after 1pm. what chance do we have. BY THE WAY IT'S WORKING OK (managers quote)

I can't see the point of not throwing off mailsort on Saturdays, if you're going there you might as well take it, I know some who bundle up flats but bring them back to shorten the duty too, makes Monday really heavy for them.OnAFlyer wrote:The last 3 days have been horrendously heavy, Tuesday and Wednesday were stupidly light!

Had a good day though, extra bit of duty, took 1hr allowed to book 1hr 30 mins, still finished by 1pm, managed to fill my frame with D2D's for Monday too, nice easy one and a half days off, hope it's sunny where you are!!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
