Why is this delivery man putting letters in box?:Update

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Answers on a postcard: why is this delivery man putting letters in box?

Royal Mail pledges to investigate internet video after claims that post round is always late

EVER wondered why you’re not getting your post or why it often arrives a little later than you expected?

Well, one mother-of-two thinks she may have come up with an answer after she spotted a man West Hampstead delivering a sackful of mail into a postbox .
Furthermore, after she saw him do it for the second time in two hours, she filmed it and made a posting of her own: on YouTube.

Yesterday (Wednesday) the man – who has yet to be identified – was apparently caught
red-handed pushing letters through a post box at the corner of West End Lane and Inglewood Road.

After being contacted by the New Journal, Royal Mail said it was investigating the matter and had flagged it up with the Camden delivery manager.

“It happened twice in less than two hours. Same man, same box,” said Mila Tanya Griebel, of Gladys Road. “If you’re not getting your post, you know why.”
Ms Griebel added that at Christmas she saw a postman redeliver his entire bag back into a post box and until recently would regularly get the dregs of the postie’s bag through her door, as hers was the last on the street.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “Royal Mail takes all aspects of customer service very seriously and, as such, the manager in charge of deliveries in Camden has been alerted and is currently looking into the matter.”

Some people have nothing better to do than spy on their posties? Damn curtain twitchers!! It could be legit pouching off or the odd missort? Or maybe he is being helpful and posting letters for some customers on his walk?!

That's not pouching off, that's wilful delay - pouching off involves the use of a blue bag specific to that delivery and recovered by the collections officer.

You must have plenty in your office (wanna send us some) we use them if we have them by the time I start work theirs none left so mine are just banded or put in individually depending on size after endorsing.

we also use the blue bags to pouch off, some days you can't fit all the P739s in it let alone fit them in a post box. Then they can take 2-3 days to turn back up at the D/O :arrrghhh
Maybe he had flats locked? dog at large? or maybe just thrown out on to the streets not knowing where he was going and couldn't find some properties, (not that that could happen  )
Now if she had filmed him tossing the mail in the river, or burning a few sack fulls then that would be worthy of posting on youtube.
Good old general public got to love em

We have had people disciplined for posting mail back in boxes and I can understand public concern - it does look like mail dumping and so a blue pouch is a must.
739 items should be returned to the callers.

You can pouch of single letters or even bundles if you have no pouch as long as you endorse the letters.

We return to the office but I'm sure if RM gets their way then that'll change.

We finish on the street, stems back from the job + knock carrot. but i think with the introduction of vans etc we will be back to the office
soon enough, and with the "later" finish on a sat and all the post offices closed we wont have a choice :Very Happy bring it on!!
