Yes, it's shocking how many managers in Royal Mail have shyte for brains. Still, without the clowns we wouldn't have a circus to go into every morning.

That will be kicked out -" sorry don't have business insurance so cant do it." Also car use is voluntary how can you charge some one for not volunteering to use his car.

We really need to be careful about these things, if the rep was finished before his due time then they might have a case (but not using a personal vehicle).

Rightly so DGP and it wouldn't be the first time that a CWU Rep has been known to use his private car for daily delivery purposes. All said and done though if he has signed off for the day then to all intense purposes he has finished work that day.

There's another thread about the RM Bond not being worth the paper it's written on.woofwoof wrote:you dont need business insurance now as royal mail cover you 3rd partyTrueBlueTerrier wrote:cackhill wrote:A rep in a south delivery office was about to give a colleague a lift home when he was ordered to drop some 2nd bags out in his private car, obviously he refused and now they are trying to charge him with failing to fowllow a resonable request wot a bunch of donkeys

You however forgot to add or conveniently omitted that it is the employees responsibility to ensure this is (note the wording) acceptible to their insurers.
The precise definition of business use varies with each insurer. Some insurers class moving along the route as a higher class of business use (courier use). Employees should not rely on the fact that a colleague's insurer allows this, as all insurers will differ. Where movement along the route is excluded employees will need to bear this in mind if choosing to move their cars along the route. If the individual opts to extend their insurance to include business use then it is essential they seek assurance from their insurers that they are able to move the car along the delivery route.
In the event that the employee's insurance does not cover business use, then the employee will be covered by the business policy, for third party only.
And whilst on the subject of Third Party and hopefully making it clear, the business policy is for Third Party only and all claims whilst using the business policy will be dealt with as such. This means that the cost of any damage to an employee's car will NOT BE COVERED by the policy whether caused by the employee or another road user. Royal Mail will only cover the cost of the repairs to the third party. Where the employees private policy is extended to include business use the private insurer should handle the claim for damages to the employee's car.

Re: Blind leading the moronic
Sorry, but you're wrong there! Unless you've paid extra, to have Business Insurance. You're own Insurance Policy isn't worth the paper it's printed on, while you're using your car for Business Use.woofwoof wrote:as long as you both have 3rd party the police carnt do anything so the kid what got pulled could not have had any inurance himself regarding the RM bonddisgruntledpostie1 wrote:There's another thread about the RM Bond not being worth the paper it's written on.woofwoof wrote:you dont need business insurance now as royal mail cover you 3rd partyTrueBlueTerrier wrote:cackhill wrote:A rep in a south delivery office was about to give a colleague a lift home when he was ordered to drop some 2nd bags out in his private car, obviously he refused and now they are trying to charge him with failing to fowllow a resonable request wot a bunch of donkeys

The reason that the RM Bond wasn't worth the paper it was printed on, for the Postie who was pulled. Was because he didn't follow the correct procedure. Specifially: He didn't get the agreement of his own Insurance Provider, for the RM Bond to be used in conjunction with his existing Insurance. I'm not sure of the legal reasons for this. But it's a fact.
Before using your own car on Deliveries. Please read this (and the attatchments) carefully, and make sure that you've done everything correctly: http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... s&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Failure to follow procedure, will leave you without cover from the RM Bond!

Beats me why anyone would want to use their own car now. Years ago it was a benefit to the user, now it is a convenience for Royal Mail.

Re: Blind leading the moronic
As far back as 2006 the CWU estimated that 30,000 postal workers were using their cars to transport mail. Royal Mail back then insisted that it had authorised just 10,000 private cars for use on deliveries nationwide, and that it has a "zero tolerance" approach to anyone failing to comply with rules.dvbuk55 wrote:Beats me why anyone would want to use their own car now.
