If RM was my business I would not employ inexperienced managers (if you want to become a manager you have to be prepared to do a management course). some units are better than others due to somes managers being more experienced and probably have respect for their employees and the employees have respect for them. If you have a incoherent manager that has no respect for their employees you will get a demotivated workforce (read Maslow's theory on motivation). It is usually the failed posties that become managers, to tell you the truth how did some of them gain management positions?jumbo137 wrote:Lets get down to the basics on this one, I agree that there are some really tosh ( rubbish) managers out there, but like any leader would agree, your only as good as the team that is beneath you, and in the case of royal mail, thats the work force. The work force must take a lot of blame for the current situation this business is in, especially the units out on I/A. The unit and area I work in work a darn sight more efficient than the offices I have recently been to help out on I/A, its about time these units excepted these changes and started getting paid for a decent days work. Its about time these units are being hit with large business plans, for year on year we have had to hit our numbers ( 5 % ) on business plan, when the current I/A units just memtioned the dreaded I/A Ballot and were left alone. Let start to run this business as if it was your own, then, would you put up with the practices that happen? , I dont think so.

So what does that mean? That all changes should be forced through with EA? So you end up with an even more unhappy workforce, productivity goes through the floor. Then what? Redundancy? Buy downs? Less staff, increased workload resulting in even lower morale.
"When the current I/A units just mentioned the dreaded I/A Ballot and were left alone" Well that is lack of conviction by management of their own business plans. If management in this company were any good, we would be only too willing to go the extra mile and be the greatest asset that RM have. Now where did I hear that before?

got quite a chip on your shoulders haven't youjumbo137 wrote:Like some of your responses, but you still dont get it, do you!!! So let me put it to you again, "the vast majority of units with the biggest gripes dont work hard enough, i,ve experienced it at first hand, thier a bunch of lazy so and so's, doing sod all whilst the rest of the country make the sacrifices for them" hope that does'nt hurt too much, but if it does, like they say, thruth hurts. Sorry to be so blunt, but get real.
as for graduates they are just school kids let out in the big wide world and are clueless might have passed out but in reality of no use at all until they gain experience (takes more than a dom advising you) but even that doesn't mean they can cut it in the real world does it.

Most of the managers 'volunteering' to strikebreak in London only take out Special Delivery items,BELIAL wrote: You might be getting confused, when you go in blacklegging they only give you one fifth of a walk to take out.

Re: graduate managers
There are 1500 delivery offices UK wide and 500 individual units have been or have requested local ballots and are about to or have been undergoing IA. If you have experienced first hand that the Vast Majority of offices with the biggest grips and dont work hard enough, then you have been a busy lad - just by a bit of mental arithmetic you must have worked in 251 striking offices, yet the 1st one (in scotland) only went out in June 92 DAYS ago.jumbo137 wrote:Like some of your responses, but you still dont get it, do you!!!
