I find that it's that type of moron who tends to scab during strikes. Having said that, I do know of imbeciles who still rush about like a mad march hare to get done early, and yet, strike. Puzzling. :d'oh!

In the last strikes I had just started in RM and at the time was not in the union, don't agree with striking never have never will. No one afterwards other than those who worked spoke to me for nearly a year because I crossed the picket line. (that did not bother me at the time one bit btw).

Now in my office there is only two old timers that still don't speak to me, and to be honest probably never will.

This time round I am in the union, I will be voting YES and I will be on the picket line (though I still don't agree with striking). But if we don't RM are just going to stuff us all even more.

We do have a few newbies that I believe are not in the union in our office now, if we strike and they cross the picket line, I won't treat them any different to what I do now, as its personal choice (yes it may help RM stuff the rest of us) but its not for us to label or single out others with different views when we live in a free choice society.
Royal Mail won't break me, though its been fairly close recently!

My office is yet to go out on strike but we are a 100% office always have been always will.
Over the last few weeks though whilst our colleagues are taking a stand in central london
we have had one scab attend our office (greater london) every day they have been out.

It is really winding us up! Our union rep tried to get them to join the union and they said no!
and weve been warned by the DOM to leave them alone, no doubt theyll be happy to accept
any gains from our action though

I think all this Scab talk is embarrassing and very childish. If someone wants to come into work during a strike than its their decision. When i first joined Royal Mail fourteen years ago i was on a temp contract and really wanted a full time position so was scared to not go in just in case i was got rid of.I was 21 and knew nothing about how relationships with other work mates could go and some other postmen were so pathetic with their scab taunts it really was so funny thinking back.
I have been through a few strikes now and have not gone in to work but if my opinion might change i would go in no problem.I have no loyalty to the union i pay my £3 every week and if i need them they can represent me as i have payed my dues.I am the only one who will pay my mortgage and look after my kids so when the time comes i will make my own decision and f**k all the childish morons shouting Scab.

It's always refreshing to see an alternative view of strike breakers, even if I wouldn't share that view in a thousand million years.

I probably banging my head against a nursery door but for gods sake there is alot more to be bothered about in the world than strike breakers. In one way having their own point of view and going against a bunch of blokes who really hate them at the time is very brave.I cannot stand people with gang mentality thinking there the big man in a mob shouting Scab.Have a little class and finesse and show your point like an adult.

Lets just say, as a ''newbie'' part timer ( 25 hours ) two weeks into his trial period - the prospect of a strike is putting the fear of God into me.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

You make your choice i make mine! Have bit of CLASS of your own live and let live! You like sc*bs i dont end of, they are parasites that gain from others sacrifices and give NOTHING in return! If you are happy with that then good luck to you! To me it shows your character and view so just move on instead of the laborious task of trying in vain to convince decent people that parasites are really OK and we should sacrifice our lot for their benefit whilst they give NOTHING and wonder why we are a bit miffed about it. I dont shout sc*b at them or hate them i nothing them as they are not worth it but parasites never are they are a sad fact of life but please spare us "your" platitudes, sc*b = parasites = low life or sh*t.

I've only been with RM for about 12 weeks, before that I was unemployed for three months.
I've lost my home because I couldn't afford the rent, and have had to move to a small flat with my wife and two teenage sons.
I'm on a 28 hour contract, but on Sept 21st that will be reduced to 22 1/2 hours a week, I've not been offered any extra duty this week, and SA's are snapped up by fulltimers on 40 hrs before the sheets are even put up, (One actually complained he didn' clear £400 last week) I even work my day off to make the pay worthwhile, even then I'm lucky if i take home more than £250
Now I am being asked to go on strike, lose a days pay, over issues that were raised before I joined RM, and issues I will not benefit from from what I can see.

If I go on strike my missus will make my life hell.

If I don't my mates at work will make my life hell.

Some times it's better to suffer three hours a day of s**t from your work colleagues, and look for another job, than 7 days a week form your missus.

Everytime someone explains to me why they are going on stike, different reasons are brought, and to be honest I don't think anyone knows for sure, not even the Union Reps in my DO.

In short Strikebreakers may have reaons for being at work, not all of them can afford to go on stike.

Just my two pennorth

So if you were lying on an operating table requiring blood to save your life, you would turn it down if it came from a strikebreaker would you ?

Thought not.

even then I'm lucky if i take home more than £250
:hmmmm I'm FT and I barely take home much more than that (£260 is my net pay) plus, you're very unlikely to get a better contract with RM these days so if you need more money then it might be better to look elsewhere (most OT has been cut from my office and I'm sure it'll be the same in many offices).
