I doubt it is written by a manager, there isn't universal support for the strike action for a variety of reasons - though I seriously doubt that is the perks.

RM's PR Dept - A Julian or Sebastian in a pony tail and red rimmed glasses might have written it - identikit letters have sent to local rags . Makes a change from the usual loosing tribunals or somebody in court press coverage :hmmmm :lfo :cfo :mfo

Agree with Norbert there's no local knowledge there,no indication on analysis, that this person is even a postie.Comments posted on newspaper message/comment boards seem remarkably similar to the comments posted in 2007.Coincidence? maybe but Labour is known to use a team pretending to be Joe Public to sway public opinion.Union-busters in the US have used all sorts of underhand tactics to try and break strikes and/or Unions. If it's Royal Mail managers they obviously still have too much time on their hands. There again could be a genuine comment from an Ely postie,...answers on a postcard to Ely DO.

Strikes are a lost cause and we the workers will be the only ones to loose out.

(They are the only form of action that we can take legally)

That first statement is very true!!!! Royal Mail dont really give a S H I T if we strike, all it does is turn the public against the posties. The second statement is C R A P!!!! Strikes achieve NOTHING apart from making my pay packet a bit lighter. The last strikes we had, proves just that. Striking is NOT the only option!!! If every office WORKED TO RULE then none of us would have to loose a single days pay.
It makes me sick, having to loose pay while some idiots are coming in early, using their cars on delivery and running their rounds.
Untill this stop's my friend's, all the strikes in the world aint gona help us.................

But since we are all meant to be doing the job properly anyway, what ground breaking changes do you propose to make compliance close to 100%?
Also since in your opinion strikes do nothing but make you poorer ,how do you explain that extra £20 in your weekly pay packet since 2007?
I think all of your post is silly you seem to be a bit out of touch with reality Lol

RM have hired a US union busting firm - they've stopped a few strikes already . What makes me laugh is how managers demote themselves when commenting / writing to the local rag if you will . The middle manager pretending to be a junior manager etc . Too obvious . The other site is known for it .

However HQ wont back a Work to rule or Overtime Ban for 3 reasons.

1. They are hard to control.
2. Its hard to spot those who are not taking part.
3. The effect, as they perceive it, is minimal compared to a strike.

I am not sure if I agree with this but this is the answers I get when I ask.

You're right JR, i missread your thread 'cause i didn't realise you were quoteing from another thread ....apologies ...

Now onto your point
I'm afraid that working to rule, or by the book, is never going to work in our office. We have posties who have never worked without their own cars. They would not know how to do the job without them. So many people now start before their time that when you come to work at your scheduled start time, it feels like you're late
Suppose that non union members decided that they were going to carry on as they normally do. That would put posties against posties, and i'm sure royal mail would love that. Then it wouldn't be long before a lot of the others fell back into their old habits, and before you know it our work to rule has collapsed. Then what ?
I'm just saying it as i see it in my office.
For me, the only way to bring these people back to the negotiating table is to get a yes vote for strike action

Makes sense, because many don't do overtime or work "outside" the rules, therefore the effect would be minimal.

I'm surprised there's not more demands for an indefinite strike (which would probably suit RM to a tee).

I'm affraid you are wrong again! Thousands do overtime and work outside the rules thats the only way the Royal Mail can still function,
take this away and RM would collapse. But it is hard to maintain and make sure everyone is doing the job right. Strikes on every Saturday
would be the best for all delivery staff as this would make managers work, even the ones who don't normally work on a Saturday would be drafted in to work.

Tman you really are a million miles away from reality aren't you.

Yes, and I must have imagined all that o/t which can't be filled, and all those staff working within the guidelines too.
About time you stopped thinking every office is the same, and making judgements on that basis... :no no
