Re: Walk Sorting Machines?
Prepping the top row with d2d's makes my arms ache, prepping the bottom row makes my back ache, so can I have a frame with just the 2 middle rows?

Do you have first hand knowledge of this spare time not just rhetoric from those above ? or just assumptions from wtl sessios held by lying dim dum doms and there lackys the lino'sdeltaforce wrote:You wont be hanging around, any spare time will be used prepping p/t walks. The machines are an investment, so rm will want money back on the cost of them by savings on prep hours.

Re: Walk Sorting Machines?
There's no spare time, believe me! We have people being taken off Inward sorting to prep 20hr contract duties and covered duties. So we sometimes have 3 or 4 people doing the work of what we used to do with 10 upwards. We have 27 FT staff doing the IPS,thats flats, packets and 3 sections of mail.axeman wrote:Do you have first hand knowledge of this spare time not just rhetoric from those above ? or just assumptions from wtl sessios held by lying dim dum doms and there lackys the lino'sdeltaforce wrote:You wont be hanging around, any spare time will be used prepping p/t walks. Finish prep out the office 9:30 -10:00 depending on volume of mail. Not much spare time there
Due to the changes we work Mon 6am-2:00pm Tues 6am-1:30pm Weds 6am-2:00pm Thu-Fri 6am-2:30pm Sat 5:30am-12:45am

I wish I had a 3 :30 walk. some of our rurals are 4:30 or longer !!themaskedman wrote:When do you get to take your break?pickaname wrote:Prep of delivery only takes an hour at most? No one takes their break, not one personForgot to mention we have no night staff and we've had pegasus as well so most deliveries are 3hrs 30mins or 3hrs 45mins real time that is
I too was told i could do my walk easily withing the 28 hr contract, after sitting down with the LM an dgoing through it he agreed it was a bit tough, we don't finish sorting until 8:15, then you have to finish prep, do re-directs, bandup and be out by 8:30 to so it within contract, .......they gave me an extra 2hrs a week. When walk sort comes in they reckon I will save that, my answer was, well as the amount of packets increase the number or recorded packets will pro rata, five extra recorded packets a day will knock the 15mins a £120m invetment saves me right on the head

Re: Walk Sorting Machines?
We had our first lot of stuff down today ready walk sequenced. It comes in boxes, i had seven which i had to shift round on to the frame and i reckon it knocked about 10 mins off the prep time - so hardly the sort of result I was expecting. All this "it comes down ready to eat- just add a few large items" doesn't seem to be the case. It was handy not bouncing around the frame like a demented tennis player but i still had 15 unsequenced walk sorted bundles plus flats and packets and didn't get out till way after 11. i think a casual did the bulk of it.
i really wonder what RM are trying to achieve by all this apart from pissing everyone off big-time. Exec action isn't working, the new duties aren't working, the sequencing machines aren't working, more managers in the offices than postman, what a fiasco. i did get the evils from the ADM so it wasn't all bad

Re: Walk Sorting Machines?
Can someone explain to me how a sorting machine can send a letter addressed to Stoke on Trent to a delivery office over 250 miles away, when it is clearly marked with the correct post code, and clearly addressed.
If they can't walk sort properly, how the flying figs are they going to walk sequence properly, and blokes in the office reckon it's got worse since they started on the coded mail.

Re: Walk Sorting Machines?
I feel like smashing up our walk sorting machines. It sickens me the amount of staff both RM and outside maintenance staff who attend these things. For what? A few trays of mail! And my duty has been cut and im now back as office spare after 8 f***ing years, out in the pouring rain breaking my back. Im sick of it, really sick.
