how solid?

I do worry about how solid the strike will be. I hear 'reports' of some delivery offices going in and some non-members in mail centres doing like-wise.
When i joined Royal Mail it was compulsory to belong to the union, now days they don't have to join. Further more many of the members and non-members have never experienced a strike. So i don't know how strong support for the union is.
I suspect neither do Royal Mail and therefore i would suggest that they want a strike to happen on friday to guage the level of support. If we are solid they will come to the table, if we are weak then it will be the begining of the end. So the message has to be be united or we will be picked off one by one.
Possibily losing overtime to flexible working.
perhaps Seeing an end to weekend working.
Losing after the three years delivery early morning allowances...don't forget the effect on your pension as this is a pensionable allowance.

If postalworkers want to be low-paid skivvys , with a poor pension to look forward to at retirement , they'll work Friday.
If postalworkers want their pay continually improved , as inflation continually goes up , and as good a pension to look forward
to on retirement , rather than what Leighton & Crozier would like to see them on , they'll stay at home Friday , unless they're on
picket duty of course.

That's how solid I believe this strike will be , it's not as though we'll have much of a choice , is it ?

we have to go for it nobody wants a strike because of finances but the changes to the job will be horrendous if we dont strike.
the union members who go in on friday to work should be expelled or they should re-sign .

Unfortunately , because we work for Royal Mail , and because there's two completely unsuitable lemons who happen to despise ordinary
workers , mis-managing the company , it's a sad fact of life that for us at least , there will be no gain without a little pain.

i think the strike will be mainly solid i think there is only one part timer going in at our office he is not in the union and thats his excuse for going in us in the st area have been on strike this year already over changes to working practice by royal mail im glad its now gone to national level as when one area or postcode are taking action they just flood the place with managers (failed postman) who turn up from devon cumbria scotland or which ever rock they can find them under ive heard that people crossing picket lines tomorrow will be video recorded and put on you tube with their name and address at some offices

Ithink it will be very solid, but expect a bit of Royal Mail spin. They will subtract those on holiday, off sick or on their day off and tell the press 'only' such and such a number were on strike out of 150,000. We are dealing with liars after all.

im from a small office of about 70 guys and we estimate that less than 10 will cross we have had 2 non-members sign up and a couple of non-members say they are staying away

i be on the line from 4.00 am as i reckon the guys that start at 4.30 will try to come in early
