Re: new network plans
9-5 you say whats that all about ? my delivery consists of mainly council tenements most of service buttons go off between 12-1pm some even way before that !. I know for a fact the council will not be altering the time there on till for security reasons ! Some days its like something out of mission impossible trying to deliver the mail into the buildings as it stands just now.

not worth getting stressed over until a reliable source for the original topic claim is available.

Re: new network plans
did hear of a rumour to do 8am-4pm shift, possibly linked to the new walk sorting machines, wouldn't surprise me if the Management will push for scrapping Saturday deliveries to save on Wages, fuel etc

Be careful with that line of thinking.darth postie wrote:im certain that with our network we could associate with major retailers(large and small) and distribute their stock we do after all have an extensive network.
Some bright spark might think the opposite... 'Hmmm, Tesco have an extensive network, why don't we get rid of all the RM Network drivers and franchise-out the trunking of lorry loads of mail to Tesco ?'

Re: new network plans
Was looked at a few years ago, they were going to get stobart to do the trunking, but worked the savings weren't large enough to make it worth while, so the idea was scrapped, the more likely idea is we will do the deliveries for tesco online shopping.Carnoustie wrote:Be careful with that line of thinking.darth postie wrote:im certain that with our network we could associate with major retailers(large and small) and distribute their stock we do after all have an extensive network.

But the other delivery companies only deliver packets and parcels????? Multi drop drivers that's all ?? They don't collect mail, redistribute it and deliver it. That's why we start early. Nothing to do with coming in line. Its another restructuring to fill Crozier's bank balance.

Re: new network plans
True or not ,it will only impact on a few.
The overwhelming majority working on the delivery side will only be paid for a four hour day if RM get their way .
Probable shift patterns would be 9 to 1: 11 t0 3 ; or 1 to 5 depending on distance from central sorting office no.of machines and FT staffing levels

No chance of that happening. Would be illegal under the current legislation.NWpostie wrote:...Management will push for scrapping Saturday deliveries to save on Wages, fuel etc
