I go back to the days pre R/M that is, when you had tremendous respect for 'the bosses' and they in turn respected their workforce.

I dont think it is fozzey who has been rumbled but the entire management culture of royalmail!. It is a pyramid scheme built on good will favours and bonuses for the lower paid staff once all this has gone and it has! It will collapse into an undignified ediffice which represents the management culture which has now over taken the service which we all once prided ourselves of!. IF THE HEAD IN THE SAND POLITIANS OF THIS NATION LET THE OTHER POSTAL BUISNESS CONTINUE THE RAPE OF OUR POSTSAL SEVICE IT WILL BE GONE FOREVER!.axeman wrote:yes respect goes a long way cut the bullshit foz youv'e been rumbled![]()

I tend to agree. Whilst as a manager I realised I was really just a supervisor wathcing that none of scallywags came off the sorting frames. That to me is not management that is more like being in a prison. Just needed the hat, some keys and a truncheon. I also saw how management at the front line stick together. Having said that the same could be said of those in the CWU. Many times everyone knew the person was bang to rights, but got off on technicalities. I do have much sympathy as the situation is pathetic.
Also just seen some research carried out this summer that suggests that theres a role for traditional forms of media. I only question whether it was out of nostalgia. I remember people saying they would vote Bush out in 2005, and didn't. Maybe that was vote rigging. Hmmmm. Anyway, I'll put together a link to the info if no-one else has

At least you have come out and told the truth about management. Yes! line managers, DOM or whatever you want to call them are just plain supervisors.F0zziebear wrote:I tend to agree. That's why I for one, appreciate his insight. I don't always agree with him. But he doesn't try to BS us, he gives a useful insight into what went on, so recently in RM Management. A lot of it, is information we'd be unlikley to get hold of, any other way.mailsort6 wrote:At least you have come out and told the truth about management. Hardly earth-shattering revelations. What else would they be then? Mentors and confidantes? At least you have come out and told the truth about management. Yes! line managers, DOM or whatever you want to call them are just plain supervisors.
Just the same managerial duties as in a million other work-places. Time sheets, leave requests and petty disputes.

Re: Action hits Royal Mail bosses
The job title DOM is a joke, they are supervisors who do a bit of admin every now and then, end of. They do not deserve nor earn the inflated salaries they receive. The actual amount of work they do probably takes what? An hour and a half a day? If that. Hardly an efficient use of public money is it? There have been many occasions whilst I've been employed at RM when no DOM has turned up, for one reason or another, and the office ran like clockwork every time. They are greedy, self obsessed 'company men/women' who don't give a **** about their staff, only how they can overwork us some more to secure their latest bonus. The sooner they are culled the better IMO.

Re: Action hits Royal Mail bosses
I really think one of the main reasons that "Team Leaders" have not been pushed in by Royal Mail is the fact that when they do then the Management cull will begin in earnest. I predict in the future that there will be 1 DOM per DO and no Lineos.
Lineos jobs will be taken by by Team Leaders who are actually FT Posties who are nominally in charge of 6 walks and they have to staff them and ensure the duties are completed as per regulations. They will obviously get a higher wage but not as high as Lineos get at the moment.
I don't agree with this scenario, in fact I think its divisive and impractical but then thats never been a hindrance before.

Re: Action hits Royal Mail bosses
And neither do I, would I also be correct that the Royal Mail forward vision was amongst others:
On New Ways of Working Royal Mail plans include introducing all the following into all work places.
‘a) Monthly pay, b) Abolish Seniority, c), Abolish 318s and walk schedules in order to increase flexibility, d) Introduce Personnel ‘Development plans which will mean individuals are judged on these plans including sick absences and conduct issues.
‘In addition, Royal Mail have made it perfectly clear they want to introduce teamworking into all work units.
‘This is against the background that in 1996 the membership went out on strike for 8 days and were successful in defeating teamworking.’
They can keep their Team Leaders.

"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

Re: Action hits Royal Mail bosses
Managers have been called incompetant or inexperienced by some politicans, the Hooper Report and by the media, if you notice not one manager has defended these allegations (have you heard 1 manager say these allegations are untrue?) Yes! we have heard it all before but this ex-manager has given us concrete evidence about what management is like and they won't like that, at least this ex-manager has the bottle to speak out instead of burying his head in the sand like most managers trying to protect their jobs at any cost. Are there anymore ex-managers on this site that want to speak out now and get things of their chest.Tman wrote: Hardly earth-shattering revelations. What else would they be then?
