Chorley residents demand post box for new estate

Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle has joined esidents in the Gillibrand area who want a post box for the estate.

With hundreds of new homes on the two estates, Gillibrand North and South, the area has seen a huge influx of people yet residents have to travel more than a mile to find the nearest post box.

Mr Hoyle met Heather Clipston, chair of the Chorley Moor Residents Association, to discuss the issue and has agreed to write to the Royal Mail torequest postal facilities.

He said: "When new estates are built it is important that local services are also provided to accommodate the new areas of population.

"The issue of a post box is a good example of where the provision of services has not kept pace with local demand and I have written to the Royal Mail asking them to erect a new post box on the estate."

It'll never happen unless someone wants to put one in themselves and pay RM to empty it.

Collection Driver: Ok no problems where are they.
Manager: Don't have a clue I live 50 miles away - drive round till you find them.
Col: OK but I can't go over the missus has to work.
Manager: I haven't got anybody to do it so you'll have to go over, but I can't pay you. Oh nearly forgot as volumes are down I have had to take an hour off your duty but not any collections. I know you'll cope. Where is that remote.
