Re: FT's let out while PT's still prepping
This is bad,FT & PT SHOULD work together,we should be fighting RM not each other.
RM will win because there is no chance of PT bods going FT,and this grates a lot of them, but the FT bods don't seem to give a f**k.
As FT's we should be fighting for them.
And again i'll critise the reps in all this.
We are our own worst enemy at times.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

dont you have enough time to complete your duty ?
If youre doing your job properly and also taking whatever breaks youre entitled to and finishing I really dont see much grounds to complain.
If youre having to rush tho its a different matter, you dont really make this clear on your post.

Re: FT's let out while PT's still prepping
Theres definetly a growing divide between the FT's and PT's.
As a PT i dont take it personally that the FT's arn't too fond of us. I think we represent the news business model that RM is striving for, considering some of the full timers have been here for a quarter of a century its no wonder they are resistant to change.
One thing that i do take personally is the sometimes offhand comments of full timers made to me about being slow, and yet i would like to see them turn up at the same time as me and be out the door at the same time. Ive never taken a break yet! yet a lot of the full timers have finished bundling up when i turn up for work!
Many of whom then sit about for 30-45 minutes chatting and sometimes make comments regarding us to hurry up if they are waiting for our bags to drop-off. I have even witnessed a mini cricket match being played! yes its quite funny, but the management did notice.
Its not wonder this has been spotted by managment, hence the introduction of lapsing. If they had slowed down and sorted to their allotted time, RM would have been able to do bugger all.
Although saying this, there is the odd one who once they have finished sorting will come over and help us out. This is also noticed by our sometimes human DOM, guess what; they dont have to lapse!

Personally it does not bother me whether all the full timers are out the office by the time I start etc.. 3 out of 5 days they are, it just makes it all the sweeter when I say to my DOM I'm cutting off as they have no one to ask to do it and you get the usual but we have no one free to cover. Ah well I say and normally then make a swift dash for the exit while reminding them where the post is I have left.

Yup we FTers are definitely to blame for the lapsing. Though not entirely our fault, as we were dangled the carrot of 'job n finish' and we took it. It's no wonder people rushed around.
Even now, we have people coming back 2 hours before their finish times, despite them doing lapsed work.
idiots.

Re: FT's let out while PT's still prepping
In my office FT staff go on IPS for 30 mins, then some prep PT walks for 30/45 mins (depending on how heavy a day it is) with the remainder staying on IPS - then after the 30/45 mins all FT staff are back on IPS to finish off.
The PT staff come in and most of their walk is prepped so everyone is getting ready around the same time, also all PT duties are 25hrs. It works pretty well, though on heavy days we don't get off IPS until after 8.

In my office the FT rurals are away first followed by PT towns then FT towns but then the rurals have a minimum 5 hour delivery and don't have to do the missorts. I can't wait until the pressure period to watch everything really fall apart

Re: FT's let out while PT's still prepping
Usually in our office its accepted that part timers leave the office about an hour after full timers. We are all used to being left prepping while knowing everyone is else is on their second bag when we only just set off. To be honest I still complete within my time most of the time so can't see I have cause to complain about my own workload. However I do find the injustice of knowing they are all at home maybe 2 hours before me frustrating. Especially as all the moaning and kicking off about workload comes from them. I don't really see how this will ever be resolved as it would require working as a team but the motivation for everyone just seems to be getting done as fast as possible. I've complained about it several times but get told not to compare myself to full timers. I wonder how they'd feel if we got paid a higher rate than them, as that seems to be the equivalent of what happens now. Oh and those that moan they have already done 3 hours work when p/timers arrive - they have also got 3 hours more pay so are not likely to get sympathy from p/timers for that. Integrating part time workers is never an easy process as the work distribution is difficult to make fair. So far royal mail aren't doing a great job and the divide between f/t and p/t not easy to correct.

Its definetly this finishing early lark thats been a contributory factor to this mess, Its only fair that we work the time we are paid for. If i have a light day then i simply slow things right down and maybe finish 15 mins early max.

Re: FT's let out while PT's still prepping
No disrespect to anyone here but should not the managers be manageing here,if the work load is down or if these staff are cutting corners to get home earlier then managers should be holding staff back and giving them work to fill in thier duty time, they should be making the staff clean the office up,cleaning vans, cleaning the yard up,the truth is these numpty managers dont want to manage the staff or do the job they are employed for they want to come in and take the money for doing as little as possible and you wonder why the staff have the attitude they have, please remember all of you that we are all he same grade and no matter what we should all look out for all of us! because if they can we will see them get rid of staff no matter if they are full or part time, so they pay as little for staff as they can get away with.

Totally agree. They should just officially end 'job and finish' full-stop rather than these more sneaky method of gradual introduction, which is what absorption really is.
