Don't there was/is a ruling as such as what they'll say is that managers won't stand by if theres going to be a failure on shift.

Some managers (usually the newer and most useless) do OPG work a lot of the time.
They were usually the most useless OPGs too.
A former shift manager did send a memo to each manager telling them not to do it,
but that seems to have been forgotten now.
If you pull them up they tell you 'what's it got to do with you?' and then harass you,
they are usually the ones who are the worst bullies too.

our managers used to help out at the end of the shift for the final push and it usually if the mech goes down, I suppose no -one likes to get their a$$ kicked by the seniors so try to get the mail through!

strike mail is usually fed through the day or night but is not normally used when processing live mail? can't see why any shift manager in his/her right mind would jepordise live mails with days old strike mail? then if there is no steer ie with certain senior managers trimming the hedges :whistle , then who knows whats happening?!?!

I can assure you that strike mail in my MC is processed alongside our normal workload(be it 2c outward on early shift,or collection/business mail on lates),a seperate figure is taken so they can calculate the amount done(no doubt helpful when working out the shift manager and "aboves" bonus for doing the work without getting OT bods in!!!) :evil/mad  :d'oh!

In Bristol MC some managers will do 10/15 minutes processing at any time of day. The majority, even if a failure looks like its about to happen wont do a thing, just content to let it go by. Thats about 15 people who could sort a lot of items in 30 minutes. Although they say that failures to sort the mail are important, their actions lead me to believe otherwise. Perhaps at the end of the day 20 failures a year doesn't really matter, its just that their not going to tell you that.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

What's an onion member? Are these the new people who bring tears to our eyes (I thought they were called managers).

Perhaps as the managers "Union" isn't, its an association you may be right. Lots of layers too peel away but still it stinks and brings tears to they eyes of true Union members.
