The PHG should be able to tell you the address I think and you could go back and get a
signature tomorrow, just tell your manager he/she should help you sort it out if they a
good DOM

Re: Posted a recorded forgot about signature :O
This happens quite a lot, so as long as the letter has been delivered to the correct address, you will probably hear no more about it. This was a genuine mistake so inform your manager as soon as possible in case the recipient of the letter moans that he/she did'nt sign for it. You may get a telling off but thats all.
These things happen - we all make mistakes.

In our office the phg may give out up to 200 specials and unless he has got a super memory he wont know who it was for as no record is made of where the specials are for just the number given to each walk. It will flag up as a failure somewhere along the line and they may ask you about it so its probably best to own up and say you dont remember it. Unless the item was posted to the wrong address you will probably hear no more about it. If however it was posted to the wrong address!!! then thats a different matter, you have signed for a special delivery and as far as they are concerned you may have stolen it.
If its any consolation i did it 5 years ago and i had a be more careful in future talk.

Re: Posted a recorded forgot about signature :O
the PHG will easily be able to get the address but not till the day after tomorrow, all he needs to do is check the office for SD failures then when your in the web page that shows them it will give you all the SD reference numbers that failed the second scan by 07:40 shouldnt be that many unless your office is really bad :) from there he can then put the reference number into track and trace(the green one) and it willgive the house number and post code of where it was intended forSenior Service wrote:In our office the phg may give out up to 200 specials and unless he has got a super memory he wont know who it was for as no record is made of where the specials are for just the number given to each walk. Re: Posted a recorded forgot about signature :O
you could put a p739 card in the bundle where it is, you could even pre write it to save you trying to write it in the rain when your on deliveryparadiseshake wrote:Thats fine then if only i could of got the address from the post office
could of saved me having to admit to it to manager who is obviously gona put me in the black book .
Im thinking about Getting some kind of bright orange card beside recorded so i know i have a recorded.
because just having it in amongst the other letters isnt the best.

Re: Posted a recorded forgot about signature :O
I put a door to door or p739 where I have a packet, not a special or recorded. Both of these items should be separated from normal mail.
Always keep them away from normal mail.

I write out cards for the Specials before I Bag Up putting the cards in the frame - and then keep the Specials in a spare pouching off bag inside my pouch. That way I never miss them and always know where they are.

If you have to keep SD letters in your bundles, put them right at the front of that calls mail. Should be impossible to miss them then. Technically, they should remain with you at all times though, so in the pouch if you have bag drops where they will not be under your care.
...and yes I've done it too.

You should keep all specials (letters + packets) in the front pouch of the bag you take out with you, they should be with you at all times. The way I know which house its for, is by turning a letter around for that house and writing "special" on the back of it, so when you come to that house you know you've got a special for that address.paradiseshake wrote:Thats fine then if only i could of got the address from the post office

Re: Posted a recorded forgot about signature :O
By simply turning a letter back-to-front for that particular address or the nearest address previous to it will alert you to there being a packet, RD or SD being imminent. As you can see here from the posts everyone makes mistakes, it is learning from them that is crucial. The moment you get complacent and/or distracted is when mistakes are made. People outside of RM rarely realise the levels of concentration that are required besides the actual physical effort involved in delivery of mail.

Royal Mail managers think you are a worthless, disposable, puppet anyway, like the rest of us, so you can't go any lower. Don't let it ruin your night or lose any sleep.

If its only your 2nd day alone then they should be understanding about it. When you get in tomorrow go and see your puppy walker/trainer and explain what has happened, let him guide you.paradiseshake wrote:ive learnt my lesson i will now put my specials and recordeds in a seperate bag and put some kind of card in the gap where there have to be delivered

Re: Posted a recorded forgot about signature :O
wednesdays almost have twice the amount of mail than on monday/tuesday. baring in mind its your first week, your bound to feel overwhelmed. you'll have loads to think about, so mistakes are going to happen. someone whos been doing the walk for a month or more wont have to think about the small things yyou have to think about i.e. am i posting on the right road. the pressure do things right also makes you do things wrong. i spent a week with someone, overseeing the walk. i still constantly used a map when i was on my own, the following week. the 2nd day in the job, i managed to lose the sign for paper, i checked the trolley and diddnt see it in there so i slammed it in anger, and manage to get my keys stuck in there. on the friday during the same week i managed to get my fingers stuck in a letter box, because i used to same hand to post the letters; i embarassingly rang the bell asking the customer to help me get them out. these are the sort of things you will come accross, even if it doesnt occur at the same timeparadiseshake wrote:ive learnt my lesson i will now put my specials and recordeds in a seperate bag and put some kind of card in the gap where there have to be delivered

back on topic, use whatever you feel confident. there are loads of techniques to organise recorded's, one that i used / found most effective when i was new, was to write down the addressess on the "sign for" paper which you'd have in your shirt pocket (dont write on the left side where you put the barcode stickers on, just above where they put their name in on the right) , and put the recorded's in the front sleeve of the pouch, in the order your delivering. you'll also know where your delivering next whenever you get the last one signed

Hi ! As allot of people have said these things happen. I'm sure you will be fine with the special ! From my own personal experienes when i first stated 3 years ago. the first month to six weeks of this job can be very hard. But once you've got past that initial stage youll find the job so easy. The fact your new to the job means normally you will be allot slower than other posties. Youl probably be spending alots of time a doors checking the mail to make sure you don't miss-deliver! but you still probably will. I suppose confidence is quite a big part of the job. But as i said hang in there it gets so much easier. As everyone said don't box your specials into your normal mail.Keep them separate. When you get you delivery card when you stick the special bar code onto it. You can write the address beside it. That way all you have to do is look at the card and it will remind you were your specials for. Theres lots of ways to do it just find the easiest way for you.
OUT !
