There's only one part of that post that I disagree with Dingo: You said that non-Union Members are freeloaders. But I think that's a bit harsh.

The fact is, that although they aren't contributing financially to our struggles. There are a lot of them, who refuse to cross the Picket Lines. I don't know how many non-Union Members we have where I am (there are some). But NONE OF THEM crossed the Picket Lines. And they didn't have the protection of the CWU, if they'd have had any trouble for refusing to cross them. That's hardly the actions of a Freeloader, is it?

Obviously, it would be better for all concerned, if they (re)joined the CWU. But it's a personal choice. Not one that I think is right. But they're entitled to leave/refuse to join the Union, if they choose.

Andy if it was not for our subs there would not be a union. yes there are around 20 000 workers who could be in the CWU and choose not to be. But whilst i have respect for those who do not go in , I cannot understand why they do not join especially when they will not have a vote on action and do not have a vote on any future agreement.

No, if it's official IA then they can strike along with those in the union, the only thing they can't do is vote on whether to take IA.
At our place we were 100% out 100% of the but only had a hard core of about 30 pickets or so - so no you cannot be disciplined for not attending,. However, I would suggest at least having contact with the picket line because if the dispute is resolved quickly and to the CWUs satisfaction, you may be called back to work.

ONLY 30 - we had a job to get 3 on the picket line for more than an hour or so - and the strike wasn't solid, and it won't be this time - in fact I would go so far as to predict it will be worse than last time.

I think your prediction is correct there. Most of the Ops side in our MC don't seem to have the will to come out and stay out.

Yeah it's a total pain coming out on strike and generally fighting for decent terms and conditions. A real inconvenience. Why don't we let them just do what they want and put up with the consequences for the next 10,20,30 years ? (irony for those who don't realise)

Correct. Any reason for feeling that I won't?

Now you mention it, no. I can't recall you stating that you would not support a strike and I'm pleased to have you onside.
