We've got to be more honest with ourselves and stop blaming everyone else for everything. Not that DOMS, Adam, Alan or whoever aren't to blame for some things (best get that in before I get accused of rimming the RM hierarchy!).
I know some days you can't finish early and have to decide whether or not to cut off or book O/T, it's simple as that, as long as you've done the job properly and worked to RM standards!
Fellchair are you a ML4/DM4 if neither you should be. What I am trying to say the time has come to say I work 8Hrs I get paid for 8Hrs. If my job is impossible to to take that long I must be prepared to do more. As hard as it sounds. Lets face it noone wants to do more for the same pay. I still feel that the high up managers and the top CWU should be able to sort this out they are paid enough. My manager today told me that the next step will be to ask staff to take more out when we get back early. He too has been threatened by his boss if he does not make us he will have to do it himself. Looks like high ups are in panic mode...

Trouble is the theorys great, but how much do you want these companies to claw back after years of building up employment perks and decent wages?
I did a temp post in a massive office somewhere in the midlands in 2000. One bloke had great pleaseure in telling me he earnt 33 grand a year unloading/loading lorries all night. He grabbed all OT going. I said it will all come to an end one day as RM are in a 1970s time warp and they like evry other company WILL cut back. So dont rely on it. He said our union is too strong to let it all go. Are we doing nights anywhere in the UK these days? Is anyone earning 33 grand a year?
RM invented and offerd job n finish and it was a great perk. Shame some could not do the maths and swapped it for the £400 carrot dangly.

This already happens in our office, you come back early, and have time to spare you either get sent back out with packets/parts of duties that haven't been completed or help out at the callers office, needless to say after 2 days of this starting no-one with any sense was coming back in early.

Unless they change the agreement they have to! I've forced that to happen on my duties otherwise I sit and wait or if I can be bothered walk in all costing them money.
In my office they say we finish out on delivery so it's upto us to make our own way back for our cars and our rep when I asked him said that was correct. The section in our office that I work on is a minimum 5 mile walk or a 2 bus journey(taking about 1 hour minimum) so it woudln't make sense to leave your car at the office, if they were willing to pick me up I would stop using my car tomorrow.
Guys i've been back 3 weeks after studying at uni and i'm pretty sure they are trying to break me. Well they've put me on the duff side of the fence(bad walks), wait they are all bad. I've started laughing at the doms. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING, nothing changed before i left.
RM are def..... up to something, i'll be voting yes . If i get my union form in on time .

But surely that is nothing to do with the strike ballot? It's postmen who choose to use their own cars, basically through selfishness. If cars on delivery is a strike issue then a lot of people are striking against themselves.

I'm a fellow postworker,please tell me what blame should be apportioned to me and why?Today as the rest of the week I delivered to my customers ,finished round about my time or just after.What are the problems and am I to blame ?I notice in your posts you always seem to finish early perhaps with utilisation of all hours you could nip down from wherever you claim to work and give us a hand

I said I finished early today, it's certainly not everyday and this week I've booked twice for going over.
I never mentioned you personally, just that a lot of postmen are at the root of all our problems by using their cars, coming in early etc etc! I'm sure you do your job properly and therefore my comments can't be targeted at you, I applaud you for that.

Im lucky in the fact we havent had to absorb the walks that others have had to if we did the mail basically wouldnt get delivered even with good will which is probably in short supply at the mo'.Unfortunately we are in a fight to the wire and our office wiil come the National Ballot stand 99 percent with our brethren across the uk

Dont be broken and phone the helpline or put in a grivience if any probs. Helpline is brill and you are annonymous on the phone.
