A postal delivery office in a north Shropshire town could be closed, it was revealed today. Royal Mail has confirmed the Wem delivery office may be relocated to Shrewsbury.
It said a feasibility study was being carried out.
But it insisted no decisions had yet been made and reassured customers it was “business as usual”.

So it IS closing because if they say they haven't made a decision then they have. But it insisted no decisions had yet been made and reassured customers it was “business as usual”

So a town with a population of over 5000 is to have its delveries from the county town eleven miles away.
How then do hundreds of SPDOs serving smaller populations than that still survive ?

This is exactly what happened to Ellesmere and Church Stretton(also in Shropshire). Before you could say "Adam Crozier"they were closed.

Something I've asked a number of times - how do they survive?Lounge Lizard wrote:So a town with a population of over 5000 is to have its delveries from the county town eleven miles away.

Just part of the master plan . The stated reason for the purchase of 11,500 new vans is packets up and park and loop.
However,if you were planning a massive cull of delivery offices ,say two out of three to go, then you would need a lot more conveyance
And in answer to another thread, once this target is reached then the management cull will begin big time;its the law of diminishing returns ,and at that point the biggest easy savings will come from management dismissals
