Nobody is forced to use their own car, if you don't RM will get you to your delivery one way or another.

They wont always get you back to the office having completed your round though will they.

Unless they change the agreement they have to! I've forced that to happen on my duties otherwise I sit and wait or if I can be bothered walk in all costing them money.

I have to say we are our own worst enemies, we get back early thats the bottom line. Once we work to time every day no one on earth can make you do more. In my office even a day after a strike we start on time we take our break we dont use a car and still people are finishing at 12 and paid til 2. Until every one of us hand on heart work til our time they will not leave us alone. Be honest with yourself. I can see why they are doing what they do. DO NOT TRY TO FINISH EARLY. The managers will not stop adding work why you do and to be honest I can't blame them.

It still baffles me as to why the union will ballot for strike action but simply wont go for a full on campaign of doing the job right. To me that's the easiest and most surefire way to have a positive affect on our working conditions.

Several years ago we had a union rep who would pull mail out of peoples frames if they'd started early, giving them a good telling off as he did. Nowadays our rep starts early, uses his car, doesn't use the canteen, carries two bags etc etc. He hardly sets the right example for others to follow, I would've thought that was part of basic rep training.

We've had bits and bobs but nothing major,every pre xmas mainly oct/nov we struggle big time down our way.

Why not get together like on the old days of two deliveries and every week one person in a group of five still uses their car (I know, still not quite doing the job right!) and at the end of your shift everyone meets up at a local greasy spoon or wherever to get a lift back to the office.

Instead of five people using their cars only one does and RM have to convey the other four to delivery. Of course everyone wont finish on time but as long as you work to your time what's the problem? A bit of old fashioned camaraderie between posties might break out!

I agree with some of that but today I started on time, took my 20 minute break before I went out, did the lapse, used a taxi to get to my walk at RM's expense....and still finished over an hour early.

In fact, I'm still getting paid now!

As an ex manager I would do same but having been like a scratche record at our gaff it fell on deaf ears now they are seeing it and still some get in earlly. It will soon be too late.

I think at the last vote something like 40.000 posties could not even be bothered to vote. A simple tick on a bit of paper and even the postage was paid., and they drive/walk/cycel past post boxes every ferking day.
Cant wait to have them in my battalion when WW3 starts NOT!

I know some days you can't finish early and have to decide whether or not to cut off or book O/T, it's simple as that, as long as you've done the job properly and worked to RM standards!
