Ummmmmmmmm - I'm not sure what a screw is - in the present context - can anyone enlighten me?

The case i mentioned went to a H&B appeal, and is still in play now.. (i wont go into it more because of this) But im glad you as a screw or ex screw
said report them to the rep which did happen and went thru all the procedures but the case was turned around and the postie got done for putting claims of H&B in BAD FAITH.. in line with the code of coduct!!! As i can only tell u these facts i understand your lack of comments thru lack of info But ive got the reaction from you and thank you for it.... To turn the case round is to get someone/ the post office out of a corner, they're not interested unless there's a chance of a tribunal , the Royal Mail had the second worst record bar the Prison Service, then there was the embrassment of the Jermaine Lee /Essex IT case.Allan Leighton wants people to eat **** to get people ready for teamworking, noone is going to p*** on his parade.
The Blackburn DO cases and a upheld sacking in a IT with a union appeal are "interesting.". The RM is only interested in impressing the CRE&EOC, lots of spin & PR but no substance. Sorry about the rant but i'm cynical, they don't give a s*** about thier people.

its all a bunch of bollocks the system they have to deal with bullying and harassment

take my advice never go the aid of a colleague cos it only comes round and bites you on the ass

Systems too heavy handed & over zealous, there's all this c*** about people registering complaints in Courier but not taking them further , it's because staff have no faith in the system.I sympathize with some managers as there's too many spurious race card complaints & too much politics, I can understand the frustration.
The Post Office has a lot of catching up to do with the real world which is not helped by all this top down command & control chain of command, always in crisis mode.
The old system where people were taken into a office & shouted at or moved to the other side of the building sometimes worked.The problem is that it's embrassing with the idiots on both sides which gives a once proud service a bad name.

Well I have to say I have never been nor am I or intend to be a "screw" ( manager ) at Royal Mail.

I do now get the gist of your post and can only assume that you are in appeal and have used all the facilities available to you and I wish you luck!

Bullying and harassment will never be eradicated in Royal Mail while managers are often the main perpetrators. They are supposed to lead by example so what hope for the staff? In my experience, those that bully, tend to be out of their depth.

I use this word SCREW as in the prison term.. And the warders that work there. And i use it to express the feeling i have toward certain Managers and there actions towards me and my colleagues.. Like a warden of a prison.. Its slang and maybe course of English, But Some of these So called managers dont manage people in the right way just harrass and bully.

Some prison warders are better behaved than some Royal Mail Managers... Treat people to help and not look down upon or treat like 2nd class citizens... I treat everyone like i want to be treated and Hate bullies..

Sorry I should have qualified this much better.What I meant it's sadly wrong that we've got a them & us mentality on BOTH SIDES,it's just sad it's come to this, most of it has been stirred up by Senior Management and there's continual conflict between the CWU & Management.Mr Mckaye & Fletch in Porridge is considered to be a realistic portrayal of the power struggle between Warders & cons.
A lot of these Mail Centres are ****holes with a dreadful culture , there's the regimented fit ups to impress senior management where the Post Office has acted as judge , jury & prosecution, staff who are so instutionalised , professional skivers, malingerers, loiterers who'd be unemployable elsewhere , managers who can't motivate, command & ignore , corruption , neopotism , cronyism, favourtism , no man management skills , jumped up failed PHG's, wouldn't get past foreman in the real world .
We had the same on the railway , it's no coincidence we had sectorisation , shadow & actual privatisation, this is the root of the problem??
The B&H cases that are turned round are like Prison Cases i.e. get nine screws to swear blind this & that, where there is anything remotely contentious controversial. Nobody's learnt anything from the Sawyer Report, the "answer" was one idea Leighton

Hi im a postman on rehab at exeter mail center and doing light duties on letters on nights. I have been aproached four times this week by the letter manager on nights asking what time did i finish my shift. Then i was told by said manager because i worked more than four hours without a break that i was breaking the law. I put my breaks on the end . The bloke next door to me just sits there all shift doing nothing but nothings said to him. I am a good worker and am sick to the teeth of managers telling me off when other people are constantly taking the piss. I have had fifteen years of this.

Sorry about the rant i worked a six hour week last week and i put my breaks on the end so i worked a five hour and fifteen shift. I was asked four times by the letter manager on nights at exeter mail centre what time i was finishing i told her she said i was breaking the law by working more than four hours without a break. Which is rubbish because its more than six hours not four i wish these managers would read up on the facts. Im fed up because the union rep when he was on rehab went home half an hour earlier and he had a twenty minute break and nothing was said to him. I am just fed up with managers telling me off when i am a good worker and alot of my collegues stand about talking or just sit in front of frames doing nothing and the managers just ignore them. I just seem to be a target because im a quiet individual and i do as im told.
