Striking posties: 'We accept we have to modernise, but...'

MORE than 100 postal workers today vowed to remain on strike for "as long as it takes" to get Royal Mail back to the negotiating table.

The processing and distribution staff started their indefinite walkout yesterday in protest at plans to close Stoke's Leek Road sorting office and move the work to Wolverhampton.

They claim Royal Mail is enforcing the change without negotiating pay and hours, and want negotiations re-started.

Delivery staff who also work at the office staged an unofficial strike yesterday after refusing to cross their colleagues' picket line.

I totally reject the idea that we need to "modernise." Not so long ago, we used to clear our office of all due mail every day. Now, thanks to our idiot bosses in Royal Mail, I wouldn't swear on a stack of bibles, in court No1 of the old bailey, that my office clears of all due mail on a daily basis because I damn well know we don't, thanks to the buffoon bosses of Royal Mail and their so-called "modernisation."

Well that depends on your definition of Modernisation, really. If they actually DID, Modernise. Rather than using flawed Computer Models, to make Deliveries longer (for example). Then it would be a good thing. But that isn't likley to happen, is it?
