Bicester Postman threatened with knife

A robber threatened a postman with a knife in Bicester yesterday.

The postman, who had completed his round, was walking along Woodfield Road at 11.20am when a man pulled knife from his pocket and demanded he hand over his post.

He showed the robber his empty mail bag who then shoved him in the shoulder before running off in the direction of Buckingham Road.

The man was described as white, in his mid-thirties, about 5ft 10in, with a wiry build and thick facial stubble.

He was wearing a dark grey or slate coloured hooded top and stonewash jeans and had a generally scruffy appearance.

Det Con Rachel Fewtrell, of Thames Valley Police, said: “We are very keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this incident, who might have seen this man in the area or who recognises this description.”

Police are appealing for witnesses after a postman was threatened with a knife after completing his rounds in Bicester.

The postman was walking along Woodfield Road when he was approached by a man at about 11.20am yesterday. The man pulled a knife from his pocket and demanded the postman hand over the mail he was carrying.

At this point the postman informed him that he did not have any mail on him and showed him his empty bag. The man then shoved him in the shoulder before running off in the direction of Buckingham Road.

The man was described as white, in his mid-thirties, about 5ft 10ins, with a wiry build and thick facial stubble. He was wearing a dark grey or slate coloured hooded top and stonewash jeans and had a generally scruffy appearance.

The truly shocking thing about this story is not that he was robbed at knifepoint (I've been robbed at knifepoint and it's not very nice ) but that he was finished his round at 11.20am.
