A postal worker whose earlier protest on a roof led to deliveries being delayed has climbed back onto the roof.

The sorting office in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, was evacuated after Paul Dawson, one of 12 staff suspended in a bullying inquiry, got on to the roof.

He said it was because he had been dismissed following his earlier rooftop protest in March, which was over alleged incidents in 2007.

Royal Mail said deliveries to post in the ST6 area would be delayed.

'Significantly disrupted'

A spokeswoman said: "As a result of a rooftop protest the Royal Mail's Burslem delivery office building has been evacuated and staff are not being allowed to return until the situation is resolved.

"Delivery of mail to customers in the ST6 post code area will be significantly disrupted and Royal Mail apologises for the inconvenience caused.

"We are doing everything possible in conjunction with the emergency services to end this protest and will return our service to normal as quickly as possible."

Mr Dawson's earlier protest had been over the fact he was one of 12 workers suspended over the allegations of bullying and harassment.

Royal Mail would not comment on the suspensions or comment over Mr Dawson's claims he had been dismissed.

Has he done it again or is this a repeated story from earlier this year. The BBC site does say it was updated today though .

BURSLEM sorting office is at a standstill after a sacked postman climbed on to the roof.

Aggrieved postie Paul Dawson mounted his second rooftop protest in six months minutes after being sacked by his bosses.

The sorting office was evacuated on health and safety grounds.

The flash-point is Burslem came when Paul, aged 39, from Ball Green was dismissed on arrival for work and was marched off the Scotia Road premises by a manager.

He quickly doubled back, scaled a pillar and clambered onto the 30 foot-high building earlier today.

POLICE have arrested a postman who staged a one-man protest atop Burslem sorting office.

Paul Dawson, aged 39, voluntarily surrendered himself to officers after a six-and-a-half hour stand off.

Police have now arrested him on suspicion of a public order offence. He has been taken to Staffordshire Police's Northern Area Custody Facility at Etruria.

Mr Dawson, from Ball Green, had mounted his second rooftop protest in six months minutes after being sacked by his bosses earlier today.

He was marched off the Scotia Road premises by a manager but quickly doubled back, scaled a pillar and clambered onto the 30 foot-high building earlier today.

The sorting office was evacuated on health and safety grounds. His actions had a knock-on affect on deliveries.
