My experience is the worse run a place, there will be a tendency to automatically issue warnings, keeps "weak" area & territory mgrs away, can't have people thinking that these junior managers should have never been promoted under the Peter principle in the first place?.There's the same problems you may get it in the real world but taken to extremes.

I think it's got something to do with HSE directives about stress in the workplace, RM are being monitored by them, on paper!, the policy is good. RM would have to admit that they have a problem if their managers were dropping like flies.
The likes of AL/AC subscribe to that 90's long hour , macho pressure corporate culture, nobody's going to go against that, usual double standards as ever.

Last back related sickness 2yrs ago.
Last sickness 17Months ago.

And the prize i got for that,a stage one issued.
Me and me rep walked out in the end.
Sick certs,didn't mean a f**k,cleaned up my act,didn't mean a f**k,triggered stage 1,meant a big f**k.
Problem was,it was me being f****d!

Bit lucky he didn't pull me back in for the language i used!
And sorry for my language in this post, but you know how it can be.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Problem is RM's one size fits all policy, there will orders to reduce absence one way or the other. There was a ballot on the proposed attendance scheme,RM want it tightened up even more.
On Indoor there's Asian staff to them it's just a game , there's old soldiers/old lags who are just more subtle about it !, RM would say it would take 2 years to get rid of these people, it causes resentment, so Royal Mail by tarring everyone with the same brush cause even more with the geniune, that's clever!

I fell off loading bay over 2 yrs ago. Dom called me negligent ??? Said I put others at risk??? There was no-one there, even the relief dom had pi**ed off early. Could'nt get to accident book (they hide it in dom's office now) Went back early as were short- staffed NEVER AGAIN! For my troubles...said she would issue me with a stage 2, the union rep practically begged her not to, but she did anyway. Even the DWP said it was an industrial injury! So I would advise stay out until you are fully fit. Sick note are'nt worth a toss as it only takes one day to trigger a stage. :mad

The Post Office have a good H&S policy but poor compliance, that's why RM are being monitored , the goalposts are moved, RM act as arrogant judge & jury + prosecution , there's also all those claims that £30 million the union solicitors claimed is better spent on TVs , crap videos, blood money bonuses.
The usual way is to say people are negligent, contributory etc, that DOM is only interested in either impressing area or keeping them away, if you made a issue of it, she'd find all these "witnesses " to swear blind.A shafting & a fit up for getting time out of the Post Office , Duty of care!, don't make me laugh
