The secret to making your day more exciting

Post by bradleypostie »

I have a little tip to bring a bit of excitement when you are prepping your round on a daily basis. 99 percent of people will think its sad but there must be saddos like me out there who will enjoy this. Basically its like the F A Cup but with addresses. Ok here goes, try and follow. I have 500 addresses on my round and last night i did a draw pairing up 250 addresses. Before you go into work that morning you pick out the first match involving two addresses on your round. When you have finished sorting all your mail into your frame you quickly look at how many letters are in those two addresses and whichever has the most items goes through to the next round etc. This only takes about 20 seconds a day then the next day you do the same for the second match up on your list. It obviously takes time to do the initial draw in your own time and will take about a year to complete but with the start of the football season here, i started my F A Cup draw today. Last years winners, 73 The Avenue, will be hoping to retain their title. Give it a go anyway, i enjoy it and ive even got some colleagues doing it now. The rest of the office think im mad.

Give it a go, youve got nothing to lose only gain. My girls aged 6 and 3 do the draw with me and love it. Sometimes i cant wait to get into work the next day and excitedly lie awake at night willing the clock on to 5am. I have cheated the odd time when a favourite address is drawn against an address i know will regularly get more mail than them so i re jig the draw when the kids are in bed. My wife left me recently, didnt give me a reason.

Seriously try it and see, i always go to work with a smile on my face these days. Today saw 7 Lemon Road beat 22 School Road 7-3 in the opening game. Tomorrow its 17 Quay Terrace versus heavyweights 79 Queen Street. I dont fancy 17 Quay Terrace's chances but you never know. Last season i had a shock when Weatherspoons went down to 49 King Street in the quarter finals, no one could see that coming i can tell you.

I'm sorry Pinky but I've got to :chuckle
My 2 immediate thoughts are with declining mail volumes are you faced with lots of 0-0 draws and if so you can you use a packet penalty shootout after drawn replays?
And have you considered the impact of a National Strike on fixtures,I'm thinking there could be a build up of unplayed fixtures going right into Xmas Pressure :Very Happy
Perhaps a Pools Panel decision might have to come into play?

Now thats got me thinking wessex. I suppose a packet penalty shoot out could be a possibility. If the address has a packet that goes thru the packet template we could call it a goal but if it doesnt go thru the template we could call it a miss. Mmmmmm.......it just might work. Obviously if we do strike down here in devon the fixtures will be played at a later date. It may result in me having to play two or more fixtures on a daily basis until i catch up. Ive just looked down the list and champs 73 The Avenue are about 3 weeks away so im praying we dont strike then as they are up against Ginsters in the High Street which looks a bit tasty.

Trinity Road B6 wouldnt stand a chance grimlyfiendish against my champs 73 The Avenue TQ12. Not down here anyway. If you got a home draw against us i think it would end up even then we would bring you back to our place and easily win. Even making myself laugh now writing this s**t, must be late.

I haven't got the strength to reply cos' I think I'm having some sort of Cider induced seizure :Very Happy
Will be conducting my own draw this w/end and will get colleagues involved, a great way to prove whose is actually the heaviest round!I suppose the big Ginsters game wont be on the box now cos of the demise of Setanta but I reckon the clever money will be on 73 The Avenue, you should always go with who's got the big-match experience and temperament(can i hear chants of You Pasty-faced bastards in the distance, probably just me tho')
Regards,you've made my day,Wessex :Applause

Cheers wessex, your contributions have been most welcome and will certainly improve this years competition. Yep i agree that youve gotta go with 73 The Avenue as Ginsters flattered to decieve last year when they went out early on to a very average 5 Darcy Court. Roll on tomorrow, it cant get here quick enough for me.
