WORKING HOURS ?
Had a heavy day yesterday.Went 20 mins past my time.Never do 0T but had nothing planned so did it. Lapsing was the reason I went over my time. Today most of us put OT in due to excess mail . Dim said no one will be paid the OT due to leaving the DO early during the week. I said we have to leave 20 mins earlier to do the lapsing. He said you HAVE to do 30 mins flexability when I say . I said show me where it says I have to do COMPULSARY OT. He then says if you don,t do as you are told I,ll keep you in until you are due out. I said I am doing the same work as the rest of the staff ,you are not allowed to treat me any different. I know the flexability is voluntary ,thats not what is bothering me. But there is no way I,m going to be treated any differentley just because I won,t work past my time. I know a grievance will be going in on Monday , but who do these people think they are. By the way the person is a postman/stand in Dim. By the way Im 100% behind a Yes vote

"All we are asking is that people work the 37 hours 20 minutes for which they are paid. If they work longer of course they will receive overtime."
Adam Crozier Royal Mail Chief Executive
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

Re: WORKING HOURS ?
I went over my contracted hours whilst on delivery due to unexpected circumstances. The manager says no OT allowed as I didn't inform her before leaving the office - but I had no way of knowing
. Is this policy correct?
I always go the extra mile in this job, even today going back to the office to get a packet for a elderly man. I can see why people 'cut off' now!!

The lessons are hard to learn but now you know that they just treat you like crap it's now much easier to return the favour, do nothing that you aren't contracted for (and if that means cutting off then do it) and if you run into any problem whenever you're out contact the office to ask them what they want you to do (I find text messages are the best because they record the message, the date and the time if they want to argue about getting it).cookie wrote:I went over my contracted hours whilst on delivery due to unexpected circumstances. Check with your rep and perhaps stick a greviance in - how the hell are you meant to tell them about an "Unexpected" situation before leaving the office what are we fortune tellers. However, did you attempt to contact them once you realised you would go over, I always do that to cover my own back whether I am cutting off or carrying on.cookie wrote:I went over my contracted hours whilst on delivery due to unexpected circumstances. Re: WORKING HOURS ?
A while back i was on a delivery and rang in when it became obvious i was going to go over my time.
I asked if they were going to pay me overtime and they said no so i brought the rest of the mail back .
The Dim was waiting for me ,as was another postie who took the mail from me and delivered it on overtime

No its not correct.
I would recommend doing the absolute bare minimum.
Tell the elderly gentleman you cant retrieve his packets in future as its RM policy.

Re: WORKING HOURS ?
I have a similar problem. Line manager has been bollocking me for being back late.
I pointed out that actually I'd been back on time, and not booked any OT.
He replied that I should have been back earlier to do IPS indoor.

Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Re: WORKING HOURS ?
from what i can tell is, youre going out earlier than you should on delivery then having too much to complete even with this additional time and the Dims idea is to make u go out later so you have less time to complete ?dean07 wrote:Had a heavy day yesterday.Went 20 mins past my time.Never do 0T but had nothing planned so did it. if im right id go along with what hes saying and go out when they let you go out and let them sort out all the mail you bring back to the office when you cut off
