FAO Striking Peterborough Office Workers
The carrot was dangled in our office today. £15 an hour being offered to come in and prep your rounds. I just want to apologise on behalf of those who will no doubt turn up tomorrow, lured by the money. I'm ashamed to call them collegues frankly.

Do you's work on a sunday? Or is this just because of the strike.

I don't quite understand how it works, but I believe they are prepping rounds, and it is definitely happening tomorrow. A few offices in the area have been asked, so I have been told. Someone from the Peterborough office might be able to explain better though. I think they went out on strike Friday, so I guess they are clearing the backlog.tailfly12 wrote:Do you's work on a sunday? Or is this just only a one of because of the strike.
Can't believe people are doing it to be honest. A shambles.

I'd rather not say the office, but a relatively big one in PE yes.Fen tiger wrote:Which office are you from?

You can use the PM facility to discuss matters that you don't want on the main board.
And, £15 per hour
is that what managers are getting paid these days
even for £150/hour I wouldn't be in

I didn't think it was *that* good money really anyway for a sunday, but as you say, I would never have considered it. That's even worse than crossing your own picket line in my opinion, even though it is not a day when workers are on strike. They will still be clearing backlogged mail!
Funny how they can find this extra money when they need to though isn't it?

2 ways to look at this, you say bollox, and you 'hope' the work piles up,or you grab the money, and bare in mind the office budget being fecked.
Also, how different is this to claiming a bit here and there during the week.
btw,not saying i would do the sun,or any extra during the week, personally i wouldn't,but you have to look at all options/discussions here.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

At £15 an hour this strike must be costing them dear !
Just a thought though, you could do the o/t at £15 Hour - Tell your lino that the extra cash will make it easy on your pocket, with the extra money you'll be able to go on striking indefinately ! ( Just watch his face change to a scowl ! )
However RM wont be able to keep paying £15/H for long - and you'd be pocketing the cash ! lol you win again.

What's the point of striking, if you then go in on a rest day and assist in clearing the backlog FFS ?Cut Off King wrote:At £15 an hour this strike must be costing them dear !

For future reference. Best way to stop members from working sunday o/t working is to inform RM that Sunday you are on strike and then picket the office.

I'm with Carnoustie on this, what's the point of striking if you come in on OT to clear the backlog (as a side note, if we strike then we're not allowed to work any OT to clear any backlog).
