CWU gives to Labour while the party decimates the Post Office
It all started with me moaning about the £8 fee I was charged for the collection of VAT on a parcel, and now it comes to this.
Some of Royal Mail’s finest use this message board (LINK TO RMC)(well worth a read I may add). Now I’m not sure comments such as THE ONLY GOOD CAPITALIST IS A DEAD ONE! is typical, but you do get a flavour of the views they have of Royal Mail Management and others with differing views. Good to see there isn’t a them and us issue eh?
I guess the question I’ve always had is whether the postal union is there to look after it’s own, or make Royal Mail a world beater like it once was. Well I found some interesting stats which certainly provide food for thought.
Go to the Electoral Commission site and you can see just how much the CWU has given to the Labour party. Figures are available from 2001. Yes you are right. It’s a big chunk of money. In fact the CWU has given Labour 527 donations which equates to an overall total of £5,180,409.28.
Yet what has happended to the post office network over the same time period?
Well the figures speak for themselves don’t they:-
For the period 2000/01 there were 17,846 post office branches in the network, yet by 2007/08 the figure had dropped to 13,567. So that’s 4,279 post office closures on this Labour Government’s watch while the postal union gave the Labour party over £5 million. You would think the CWU would care about their colleagues who run the post office network – but then, they aren’t members of the CWU – hardly a case of brotherly love is it!
In fact, the next time Labour says it cares about the post office remind them to since 1997 there have been 5,684 post office closures while it has been in power. And the next time the CWU say they care about the post office, remind them they have been providing the funds for the Labour party so it could do this.
Royal Mail Chat – they don’t like it up em
You write a post about Royal Mail, and suddenly the brothers get a little riled. Well as Corporal Jones used to say, “They don’t like it up em”.
A superb “campaign” and I use the word lightly aimed to, I think at best to attempt to annoy me. You can see it here.(lINK TO THE ROGUES GALLERY POST LOL)
Apparently, I’m the “twonk” who “decided to buy a ‘lovely’ pen from the USof A for $98.99 or £60.00 in proper money and is complaining about the Royal Mail International Handling Fee for collecting the VAT,and then some. He’s slagging of the union, and feels we should be privatised.”
I am such a bad person on so many levels. Apparently it’s outrageous Ive paid £60 for a pen. It’s also a sin for not buying everything I own in Britain. I am a tax evader too according to some of the lovely comments – though they still haven’t explained how many businesses can collect VAT on behalf of HMRC easily yet it costs Royal Mail £8 to. They can’t really explain how customers – you know the likes of me and you can avoid paying the fee if we receive a gift and therefore have no knowledge of what VAT may be payable. No they are just happy to say the end users is wrong.
I think I’ve even made the rogues gallery. Remind me how many post offices have closed since 1997 chaps? Why are you still funding the Labour Party out of Union money? You are still doing that aren’t you?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That's truly excellent. Another timely warning from history.
All the sheep who like to give it all the old "New Liebour", "One-eye Broon" and "I'm never voting Labour again" plus all the other oh-so-funny jibes and cliches they've just read, should take note of the above. It's coming your way soon.
The SWP/ IWW/Tooting Popular Front and all the other fantasy football teams won't save you from Tory Boy, as above.
The Bogey Man's coming, and God help us.....
