Response To HellMail From CWU

Post by Geezer »

TO ALL BRANCHES SW/SW

I originally put together the attached in response to RM using a hellmail article in the PL area. It has become apparent that this brief was used by managers nationwide to feel free to use this reponse and edit as you need to.

Regards

Chris

Hellmail Article
Dear Members

You should all be aware by now that Royal Mail are using an article written by Mark White on the website Hellmail to attack the CWU.

Firstly if any member needed convincing of how desperate Royal Mail is then this must surely be it. Rather that use the support from respected quarters (because they have none) they are quoting from a site with a fine tradition in Union bashing.

What is shameful though - and we must expose this in every workplace – is the fact that members of another trade union are activity spreading propaganda attacking your union. We should expect nothing more from management really as these are the same people who tell us the company are in crisis then pocket thousands of pounds in bonus payments themselves. Double standards come as part of a Royal Mail manager’s make-up. We are however amazed that a manager has managed to find this site as we thought they only used ebay and facebook whilst sitting in their offices.

The article in itself is almost as embarrassing as the fact Royal Mail is using it.

• Its states that the CWU are bullying people into taking strike action. Maybe the author should make a trip to his local delivery office and witness the levels of intimidation that are being used by managers everyday with regards to absorption and pressure at work.
• The article tells us that the CWU are led by extremists. This is the same CWU that offered Royal Mail a 3 month moratorium (rejected by RM), followed by a 2 week moratorium (rejected by RM) and still continues to offer talks at anytime.
• We are told that neither the Government nor Royal Mail will budge. It forgets to note that the Government have already moved over the issue of Privatisation. Collectively is the only way we will beat this employer.
• Perhaps the only note of truth in the article is that we are at a tipping point. Now is the time when members have a stark choice to make. WHAT SORT OF UNION DO YOU WANT? If you want an idea of what the alternative to the CWU is then just take a look at the managers union. This is exactly what Royal Mail wants from us – zombies, conditioned to losing and conditioned to doing whatever they are told.

The communications, membership meetings and other forms of interaction will be stepped up by the CWU over the next few weeks as we move towards challenging Royal Mail on a National basis. One thing we can assure members is that we will give you the facts – not right wing views from sources read by one man(ager) and his dog.

I don't know why people take hell mail seriously the bloke who runs it is probably sitting in an attic somewhere, making things up as he goes along, he's probably got his SpidermanImage comic next to him to read when he's run out of telling porkies :whistle don't let them bother you :cuppa anyone who works in the business(not those fantasist's that appear by magicImage after an anti union post), knows the reality of whats going on :Very Happy

you have to look at their fluffy partners , people have noticed the " I'm not the usual manager type ( of course ! ) " or I just " happened " to be googling " types " suddenly " appearing - to be fair some have appeared on here too but last as long as a mayfly - the other tactic is the spin to defend the indefensible .

Unfortunately with the stakes so high , it's difficult to be " fluffy " either way .

The worst thing that Hellmail did was an article on the Bristol 4 with " quotes " by them "admitting" their " supposed heinous crimes against RM " , it was "amazing" how it was toned down .

Problem is that you can be so way out that you meet the red as fire engines lot round the back , like something out of 'kin North Korea .

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I get the impression that the union wants a strike (obviously they won't lose their pay). I don't know why or what it expects to achieve. Perhaps, we'll get as good a deal (aka shafted) like we did 2 years ago.

It's about time we sacked all the beer drinking, money wasting, militant and old fashioned union leaders and replaced them with professionals who know what they are doing.

I thought the CWU let us down the last time as we went back working the very things we came out against, but then when you think about it it was the rank and file that voted to accept it not the leadership. My only complaint is we never strike during the busy times when it would hurt RM the most. :so there

We accepted it based on the unions reccomendation of "It's best deal we are going to get".
It was a dreadfull deal and most people knew it at the time but it was pointless voting not to accept with the union thinking that was the best deal.

It seems clear to me that RM don't actually care what deals they make. RM make the union give ground where they want it and a couple of years down the line RM break their side of the bargain and the cycle of loss continues.

As much as I don't want the union to falter, I think they will get a no vote next time and RMs well payed strategists will have a major victory in their divide and conquor tactics. It really does concern me.

You say that "RM break their side of the bargain" and in a previous post you say that you think that the union wants a strike, do you think they might have a case with an employer who breaks agreements :hmmmm just a thought.

Hellmail has always spouted s**t and the editor has no idea how a mail service should operate so its best ignored. They got rid of the forums because they were getting a battering from members.

I believe they originally started it as according to them , too much stuff of theirs went missing , Ok - there's bad apples , but they started laying it on too thick about tea leafs i.e . there would be reports from the likes of " The Back End of Beyond Gazette " that never appeared on Google about a tea leaf up in front of the beak .

Secondly these sites like the corporate way of staff being constructive and offering solutions , I'm told the IB is a bit undermanned and over run , that wouldn't be anything to do with corporate culture of bean counters cutting staff and bonuses as effectively most businesses would protect revenue and corporate image .

Anyway where's Private Fraser to rush to Hellmail's defence :hmmmm

My point exactly, what 'agreement' do you want this time, an agreement not to break agreements?
RM don't care if we strike so it's an empty threat ... except that we lose loads of wages.

I still firmly belive 'hellmail' is affiliated to royal fail and they pull the strings yes somtimes you might see an article shown to be supporting postmen (not offten) but this is to disguise the real reason the site exists.
This is why they closed the forums because they got into areas royal fail could not control and came off second best ......not the sort of thing these bullies want :hmmmm :cfo

agree - because if they went too far with the tea leaf etc tirades they might be leant on by RM , Crozier as soon as RM got shafted by C4's " Dispatches " threatened to set lawyers on C4 but we didn't hear much about it afterwards :hmmmm .

At the very best there would be " opportunities for " compromises " " and relationships could be a bit " cosy " away from " The Dark Side " :hmmmm - all " The Black Arts of the Possible " which is politics with or without a small " p " .

Best one was the infamous " B***ie 40 " threatening a night in the cells for anyone who as much as said boo to a goose with non strikers . I'm afraid there's people who trip themselves up as they can't keep their stories straight .
