Whats the latest finish time criteria set down for an SPDO?

Post by ruralpostie »

Hi got an urgent question here for the knowledgeable here amongst us. Just what is the official time that is the latest that a letter can be posted on a rural SPDO, I always thought it was 3pm and currently our official finish time is 4.15pm...
I have made enquirys and have been told from our official RM sources it is stipulated as a "late afternoon finish" for an SPDO, personally I think that is B*!!*(£$.
I need to know as I fear they are going to try and tack non delivery work onto the end off the duty and also at present the round is far to large for the time given. If anyone can tell me for certain the official finish time that would be excellent...

I thought the USO was 3pm for rurals and 2pm for town or something like that,i do know for sure that 3pm is the latest, full stop.

We use 3pm as a FINISH time on our rurals.
So our last letter is at 2pm, 20 mins to travel back and pouch off etc and then 40 mins meal relief

If it is anything it is because royalmail wish to close nearly half the mail centers and as such the mail will be sorted later and later!. Some delivery offices and small SPDO'S may not receive mail until late morning IE 10.00am. May be wrong but that is my interpretation!.

3pm is in there somewhere because when we went to a 4 day week all the duties had to have last letter by 3pm.
