Any members in our office thinking of leaving the union,i ask them to think of the working conditions at the turn
of the century. The working classes had to endure horrendous conditions, with little or no reprosentation.
The terms that we enjoy today were not just given to us, they were fought for by our forefathers, and we should never underestimate RM's
desire to return to the dark days.
Oh and don't think we can rely on the new Tories/Liebour to save the day, they cut us adrift years ago. :hmmmm

I was going to respond to this post but thought it was probably a management wind up but on reflection its done the CWU a big favour to recruit more members. If it was a serious post its a bit presumptuous to assume that the whole office wants to withdraw from the union, if that is the case then all i can say is if you believe in Christianity,Islam,Hinduism,Buddhism,Chinese folk religion,Shamanism,Animism,Baha'i Faith,Judaism,Sikhism,Shinto,Spiritism,Taoism,Wicca,Zoroastrianism pray very hard and hope they are listning cos the main peeps who can and would help you i.e. the CWU wont.
P.S if i was religious I would say I hope you non union member/ leeches, strike breakers, strike breakers, judases, black legs, bloodsuckers etc etc should burn in the fiery pits of hell if your christian, but what ever the religion you belive in = hell I hope you get whatever your religious believes serves you.Thank goodness im not religious or a scab.

Isn't that a bit harsh?

Post by andy2007 »

The first part of your post, I agree with Hooty. But isn't the last paragraph a bit harsh? :hmmmm
At least they were willing to discuss the matter on here, rather than just go ahead and quit. Although, whether the original post was intended to "put the cat among the Pigeons" or not, I don't know for certain. Although I suspect it was (only 1 post, then nothing? :hmmmm ).

We've had some individuals (but not many), who've left the CWU, because they were so disilusioned. But they still haven't crossed the lines. They just didn't want to waste (their opinion, not mine!) their money on subs, when the CWU is so out of touch. But still stand by their collegues, metaphorically speaking anyway (they never turn up for the Picket Lines). Whether any of them have subsequently come back again, I don't know. But they certainly made a big fuss about quitting the CWU, at the time!

Now I don't know whether an entire office would behave in the same way, during a National Strike (if we get one). But telling them that they'll go to Hell for leaving the Union, is more likley to make them want to cause us trouble. Rather than change their minds, isn't it? :hmmmm
Why do you assume that they will be crossing Picket Lines, if they leave the CWU?
How do you know that they wouldn't try joining a different Union. There are alternatives to the CWU. They're not recognised by RM. But let's face it: it probably won't be long, before RM try to derecognise us anyway. They've been trying to ignore us for years, already.

Don't think so mate, the membership and colleagues are solid, people are just angry that HQ don't seem to be up for the fight.
Up in Scotland mate weve been given the shaft big time for years, we started long ago with the strikes glad you have now joined us but on here recently there has been a wave of lets say dubios posts.
Probably managers trying to brown nose as usual,
Like you a lot of people have been screwed with the way forward and the sdd,we were promised so much but it seems that a lot of colleagues up and down the country are suffering bullying, intimidation and harassment. people who have scabbed are still members of the union, a lot of members are losing a lot of money that they cant afford to, and some of the top hq bods are treating these strikes as an annoyance and not going all out for victory, This is a fight we cannot afford to lose.

By the time that happens the CWU will only have about ten members :)
i missed that one , what a great one liner !!! puppet.....

Although I may not always agree with the way our union does things. I am sure that any office that was stupid enough to leave on mass would become nothing short of hell on earth within a few weeks.

If there was no CWU we would be really shafted. I know a few posties that have been really shafted by RM the trouble with some posties they think that RM will treat them fairly if there was no CWU. You better think again you only need to look at what is happening now with Phase 4 of the Pay and Modernisation Agreement. It seems to me that RM as not implemented executive action at your DO yet.
