I wasn't accusing you of snooping. But suggesting that they might claim you were, if you admitted you'd seen it. I can't see a Manager admitting to leaving Emails like that lying around. He/she'll probably try to cover their backs, by claiming that it wasn't left lying around. Or it could even be a deliberate trap.TA Postie wrote:it was an e-mail printed off lying on the desk, although I wont let on Ive seen this. Re: wilful delay?
Just wondering, when you endorse letters 'dog loose', what happens to it? Do you try again next day?mclovin wrote:Just had to do that myself today, missed 8 calls due to a crazy ass Jack Russell being out on that particular part of the street.
The dog in question is also on my walk log so theres plenty proof.
Hope the other householders who missed getting their mail today have a less than quiet word with the dog owner, all mail endorsed and put back in the box, might not see it again until Monday.

I stick the mail back in the box and maybe it'll come back the next day, maybe it wont, when they come back I'll deliver them, if the dopey tart doesnt let her dog out again.NewPostieUK wrote:Just wondering, when you endorse letters 'dog loose', what happens to it? Get this...tiredwalker wrote:You actually buzz the residents to let you in? I used to be on a duty with controlled access and doors only open upto 11:30 am, which was fine for the person doing it before me as they were full time and out on delivery by 9, and as i'm pt and out on deliver 11+ if the doors were locked i'd automatically bring it back. After 3 weeks on the duty the housing Ass changed the access until 3pm at the request of the residents as I made a point of telling them why they got no post most days of the week now.jumper wrote:I do a different duty every week and find that i deliver to a lot of flats that i need access to. These are known as acontrolled access and sometimes you can never get in as they are timed especially after midday. My point is if no resident lets you in your f***** and all you can do is take back the mail and endorse as no access simple theres nothing you can do just do the job properly and you get no hastle.
There was delivery in my office that consisted entirely of timed council locks. When we moved from 5am to 6am the managers forgot to inform the council so the luciky postie brought all the mail back from the entire delivery. It was 2 weeks before the idiots resolved the issue. Btw...its a great duty to do on docket at 230pm.

Re: wilful delay?
A letter arriving late is evidence of NOTHING!
There are many reasons why is could be late - sorted into someone elses frame, left in sorting frames/on wrong walk frame till next day, miss-delivered, didn't arrive at the DO atall. If the manager says 'so what happened to this letter?' say 'you tell me cause I don't know!'
