4 day week
In our office we've been working a 4day week since nov, longer deliveries, trolleys and shared van for the walks, i must say the 2days off are great but the 10hr shifts are far too long, our deliveries are supposed to be 4.30 but most are 5.30, by the time i get home from work now all i do is shower and fall asleep, i think it has been a huge mistake.

I know that 10 hours would be too much for me. Surely five and a half hour duties are madness.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: 4 day week
10 hrs is too much for all of us, it takes us our 2days off just to get back to normal, office moral has totally gone and it's getting worse, were summer lapsing as well adding another 30 mins onto our deliveries, so some days we can be out for 6hrs, this is what they call progress.

Re: 4 day week
WTF!! Why the hell did you agree to 4-30hrs deliverys!!
I'm on a 4 day week, our walks are around 4hrs on a bad day,it's hard but worth it for the days off.
And how the hell do you prep all that in time,at times we struggle if it's lumpy,so how do you do it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: 4 day week
The 4 day weeks are the best thing to come into rm IF the planning is done right. Why do you think rm are so adament on taking them out now, and as for being out for 6hrs who on earth agreed to that! Do the job properly and 10 hour day or not most days you can fill it and thier would only be enough time to do a normal delivery 3.5hrsscotchick wrote:10 hrs is too much for all of us, it takes us our 2days off just to get back to normal, office moral has totally gone and it's getting worse, were summer lapsing as well adding another 30 mins onto our deliveries, so some days we can be out for 6hrs, this is what they call progress.

Re: 4 day week
Our 1 week off thing we looked at was a 5 day week as normal(You get a rotating rest day),but for 4 days we do a 1/4 of another walk (Sat was normal 8hrs)to bank the 8 hrs, then the week off in 6.ashtoninho wrote:not as good as one week off in every 6POSTMAN wrote:It's the dogs dangly bits.da'bunny wrote:Are the 4 days a week rolling? ie one week its mon- thurs the next its tues - fri? Ermm i think i've actually confused me self
We didn't like the look of that,as the grabbing a 1/4 of a walk the prepping and watnot wasn't worth the hassle.

We tried to get this started in our office a few years ago, but the Dim would only accept it if it was 100% across the office.
Unfortunatly, we couldn't even get 25% .....

Re: 4 day week
not sure if we weren't all better off when we were a 7.hr, 6 days, 2 deliveries a day, per week. going onto this SDD is propably the worst thing we have ever done. i'm struggling with 3.5hr delivery. i know i couldn't do 4hrs or more.scotchick wrote:In our office we've been working a 4day week since nov, longer deliveries, trolleys and shared van for the walks, i must say the 2days off are great but the 10hr shifts are far too long, our deliveries are supposed to be 4.30 but most are 5.30, by the time i get home from work now all i do is shower and fall asleep, i think it has been a huge mistake.

Re: 4 day week
Nobody should be talking to rm about any deals at the moment, because if we let rm win this dipute in a short period of time they'll have us all working 6 days a week let alone 4NWpostie wrote:I have been trying to get that started in my Office, there is zero interest at the moment, Runcorn managed it, so whats stopping us.ashtoninho wrote:not as good as one week off in every 6POSTMAN wrote:It's the dogs dangly bits.da'bunny wrote:Are the 4 days a week rolling? ie one week its mon- thurs the next its tues - fri? Re: 4 day week
Thought Health and Safety Laws said we could not be on delivery more than 3 hours 30 minutes.
Whether or not they agreed 4 hour 30 minute delivery, its unlawful, yes?
