Was there a meeting of all the reps on tuesday to discuss a national ballot and if so does anyone have any details that can be shared on here ( careful, managers comb these sites for info to use against us )

Only the managers who are able to read, and those two have poor comprehension.

I can confirm that there was no national briefing to discuss any potential national ballot, the EC meet again on Aug 4th (i think) to discuss next steps.

One question I have is if we do have a national ballott how confident are we all of securing a huge yes vote???? :mfo

I don't know. But at least we'll either all be out, or all be in. It won't just be the minority, fighting the battles for the majority.

Very true, Andy. And it would be fair to say that colleagues at my DO are sitting on the fence at present which is really frustrating for me as a Rep.

They look to the Rep and HQ to do all the fighting and chasing around for them. Most are not even aware of what (or choosing to bury their hands in their pouches) is going on around them! They still come in early, use their own cars, finish early, work any O/T available plus their day off, so the Rep has a mountain to climb just to get them to focus!

I find that as well. I fight my own battles, my rep is there as back up. If those who are strong enough, or think they are, let the rep get on he or she could spend more time supporting the 'weaker' members.
Support is the operative word here, how can a rep function if the membership don't give their support?
I'm lucky in that my rep is strong, he has the support of the office, though some do tend to sit on the fence on the majority of issues and only complain if they disagree with the results.

Cobra34 as you well know there are no guarantees in life. But past history shows that the CWU membership will vote to support their own trade union when issues are specifically on a National Ballot.

The Postal Constituency has come through the most difficult year in the history of CWU. This could not have been achieved without the dedication and determination of all our representatives. We have seen 3 national ballots for industrial action with overwhelming yes votes –bitter disputes involving prolonged strike action – resolutions to all disputes that were overwhelmingly supported by the membership through our democratic procedures.What the last year has demonstrated is that Royal Mail lost the support of its employees. Our members had seen through the Leighton/Crozier rollercoaster ride.

I believe the vast majority of CWU members do understand that we are in a much tougher environment and that tackling major change is always going to be at the forefront of our endeavours. What CWU members wanted above all, was decent terms and conditions and the right of their Union to be fully involved in negotiating change with the best possible agreements. I am convinced we now have the ability and opportunity within our organisation to continue to influence the future in the long term interests of our members.

No need for Dave to be coy, Royal Mail won that dispute when HQ encuraged the members to vote yes on practically the same s**t deal they previously had balloted us on IA for.

Don't think so, even as unlikely as it may seem with over 500 officies already balloted and we were to lose the national ballot, it won't end there the strikes will go on in my office and most officies in london. We are fighting for a national agreement and one way or another we will get one

So in other words, we could still end up with a minority of Posties making all the sacrifices, for everyone else to benefit.
