See your rep, fill out a membership form and you're covered straight away.
Why are you not in it anyway?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Non Union member

Post by donut1961 »

SCREAM.... We need to open our minds a bit here gents and ladies. Why do you assume I'm not in the Union? I am in the Union. But there are many people who for reasons of their own conscience do not wish to join the union. They may, however wish to support us in a strike-it happens-we're not all the same. Yes I would advise any to join the Union and the strike but they may not wish to do that therefore it is in their interests to know they won't be victimised.

Donut please see my post on previous page - both ACAS and Citizens Advice should be able to help them. Also if they are victimised in anyway they have the B&H route to go whichever side does it to them.

Also I may be wrong but Royal Mail cannot discipline anyone - even non-union members are that taking part in lawful industrial action. They have to treat us all in the same way.

Non union member

Post by donut1961 »

No you're not, only a few of us have those powers, but one should be careful about making assumptions. Remember a non member is a potential member, depending on how he is treated today. As it happens we have full membership but what I don't like is managers going around intimidating my workmates members or not, especially if they're willing to take industrial action in support of the union of the men. WTL today for instance and the manager will feel the backlash tomorrow as I now have the info I was looking for.
