strikes next week

i was told by someone in our office that he heard next week delivery men will be starting wednesday 6-10am then finishing ,and thursday, friday we will be starting two hrs later at 8am. instead of having a days strike, does anyone know if this is true or not.

In East London they are taking that strike action. However the plan for next week is that Mail Centres are taking strike action on Tuesday along with VOCs , on Wednesday East London are taking action and on Thursday , Friday and Saturday other delivery offices in London will be taking industrial normally 4 hours to the end of shift. West 1 and WC will be taking strike action from 1000 on Friday till Tuesday.

The strike last week has caused chaos and distrubtion drivers have been told to cancel 1 and 3 o clock collections and do delivery work and in East London Mail centre processing staff have been moved to E1 Delivery office.

On a different level I would like to thank management for doing our job for us. As the union has been attempting to introduce doing your job safely for years and where we have failed management have succeded by attempting to introduce outdoor absorbtion. We now have offices in increasing numbers no longer coming in before time , driving their cars and taking their breaks .

Long may it contiue.

thanks for confirming this dingo. i do hope this causes royal mail maximum disruption. today we were told that in 2 weeks time we would be absorbing walks,and i understand certain offices in east london had already started doing this. so it seems the management are still bringing changes through,even though the strikes are continuing.our office is im afraid one where people have been coming in early using cars not having any break, and rushing about.maybe now they will realise its about they did the job right after all.eventually we must get the whole country to strike, as this is one battle that we must win or our future will be doomed.

I think this is the big shock too a lot of members and they now have finally realised that the writing is on the wall as far as job and Finnish goes!.

Unless robert37uk has specific local problems I think he may be missing the point. Thanks for Dingos info. A lot of us are still fighting locally (and this has been oked by the CWU) but I think it'll take some time for us to get together nationally. I'm no expert but I know the CWU have to ballot and give notice so it all takes time. We recently voted to take industrial action, and as mentioned I think RM have p****d so many posties off now that we're actually getting more defiant!
I wasn't too impressed with the meeting, only recently having moved to the DO, but another senior guy said,"Crikey it actually looks like we're getting a bit militant!". Apparently last year everyone was a bit, "I'm alright Jack I don't want too rock the boat". It took a bit of doing but a last some of these "Sheep" were convinced that if they didn't make a stand next time it could be their cushy duty that had hours cut and more work put on it.
It's like pulling teeth trying to gee some of these people up! I don't envy the Union Reps. Perhaps I'm just a stroppy b*****d but I can't stand this attitude of, "I might lose a bit of money or they might take my cushy job of me". God help us if we ever got invaded! I think these jellyfish would just roll over and say, "Never mind it's not too bad, we'd better not rock the boat". Perhaps they should issue a pair of b***s when you take on the job (that's optional for you girls of course LOL).
