Full Time positions not being allowed to be taken by Part Timers.
Failure of management to adhere to both local and National Agreements.
Managements failure to follow recommendations of both Hooper and Sawyer

HOOPER - That will not happen unless there is political separation, better engagement between the management and workforce, and a joint commitment to modernise the service in the best interests of the taxpayer, consumer and employees.
SAWYER - But of course it could not be right for Royal Mail to introduce far-reaching changes affecting its employees without the full involvement of the union.

Managements version of modernisation of cutting jobs and introducing far reaching changes, without actually modernising anything.
Managements version of improving the service by having less deliveries, earlier last collections, PIP, later deliveries.

The PEC are meeting tomorrow and it is very likely that a national ballot will be called. Currently there are over 530 offices who have request or have industrial action ballots including London.

With regards to what we balloting on i am amazed that people still dont know what this is about. Royal Mail do not want to pay for change in the future and want to destroy the cwu`s influence in the workplace in order to remove our terms and conditions.

On top of that Jane Newell the Chair of the Pension Trustee has written to all pension members that they want to change the pension scheme and benfits once more. This involves discussions with Royal Mail well Royal`s Mail position as announced by the chairman is to close the pension scheme for all members.

So this fight is one which involves everyone and has to be won if we are to have a future.

Not sure if it's true or not. But we had a meeting Wednesday morning out side the gate because we aeren't allowed to have one in the building. Some felt that some area's were dragging their feet in the national ballot issue. and that London was taking on the fight alone.

our office voted this morning to be balloted on industrial action also heard that another office in our area voted to be balloted as well

Not sure if it's true or not. But we had a meeting Wednesday morning out side the gate because we aeren't allowed to have one in the building. Some felt that some area's were dragging their feet in the national ballot issue. and that London was taking on the fight alone.

Thats the problem with local ballots as last I heard there were 400-500 requests for ballots. Also London is not alone as Darlington, large areas of Scotland and the South West have been out, with individual offices also taking action as well. I do try to post all the stories I come across regarding the strikes so it might be worth getting your colleagues to come on here and get a general overview of the action being taken.

The reason the ballots are taking ages though is because RM are looking for loopholes in the law regarding Industrial Action and Ballots to try and get them annulled and therefore stop the strikes. This means that the CWU has to make sure they have all the information required by the business, that its is correct, that the wording of the ballot is legal etc - basically it takes ages to dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s but local ballots are less likely to fall foul of any procedural irregularities than a Nationwide one, and it is more difficult for RM to questions 100s of ballots rather than just 1.

Yes, they are questioning all strike action but even if they find fault in one action all the happens is the union ballots again, this time without the mistake, and the action goes ahead anyway (usually more determined).
